Not well said my friend.

Thanks for the profound advice Captain Obvious.

wait till 08 and get the 135i, its gonna be like the 335i but 2 door, several hundred lbs lighter and 4.5 sec or less in 0-60 with price tag of low to mid 30s. now that rocks, even with BMW 4/50 full warranty that covers wear and tear items

evokoto, I hope you aren't one of the ones who shows your evo instead of driving it. I'd rather show my appreciation for my own evo by driving it as often as possible and doing my best to keep it in pristine condition (ignoring the recent CD player malfunction by no part my fault) I already put over 4000 miles on it in just 3 months. (Helps when the drive to school is 150 miles one way)

Anyways, before I get too far off topic and have Warrtalon or someone else on my case, I think it matters what industry were talking about. I mean yeah, rolling up in an M3 or any other BMW for that matter is impressive but if you're working somewhere where your name isn't labeled on your parking spot then who cares? I'll still take the evo over the M3 on pure "wow factor" anyday. If you only want the M3 or 335 etc. to be some symbol of your newfound wealth then go talk with the BMW owners.

By the way, whats the difference between a Bimmer and a cactus?
Cactus's (Cacti? Never tried pluralizing that before) don't have ****** on the inside.

If you are looking for a more "professional" car, why not look at the STi Limited? No pink badges, wings or extrovert blue interiors. It may not be a popular suggestion on here but I have been seriously considering one.

Laguna Seca Blue was the reason I wanted a BBY evo 8 so bad.You own an evo and you want a bmw.Sounds like a win win situation.Put the circumstances in my hands and Id take an 03-04 z06 over pretty much anything of equal value and status

Question

Well, truth be told, as a former owner of an Integra Type-R,
I've been thinking for months about going the other way:
Trading my 2003 E46 M3 for an IX MR.

Here are a few thoughts:

M3 Pluses:
========
  • smooth linear powerband
  • refined luxury when ya want it
  • great interior/instrumentation
  • wife likes it better!
  • friendly servicepeople who will gladly take your cash!
M3 minuses:
==========
  • Heavy (no.. no intention to tub this thing out!)
  • 58,000 miles on my M now.. still running strong though. (that's a plus)
  • Touchy brakes
  • looooong gearbox throws
  • pitchy suspension
  • wide wide seats
  • Aftermarket parts are wayy more expensive in most cases.
Yea.. I can fix most of the above minuses, except the first two, but it'll cost me!

Evo Pluses
========
  • GRIP GRIP GRIP
  • Great Recaros (reminds me of my old ITR)
  • Unmatched handling
  • Awesome steering
  • will fit into a tight garage!
  • great out-of-the-box.. no mods.. at least not right away..
Evo Minuses:
=========
  • crappy rent-a-car dashboard/interior/instrumentation
  • riceboy aura
  • peaky powerband
  • wife will never forgive me.
Of course I'll remove the wing.. Now, I'm older than most of you.. I'm not even in my 30s anymore, did a lot of SCCA Autocrossing back in the day with my tegs, but man.. I can't get over the handling of the IX MR!

FWIW, my other daily drive is an old Integra GS-R with 226K miles on the odo. Full ITR suspension & larger ITR brakes, LSD, ITR steering rack, and the normal cams and bolt ons..

It comes down to this.. if my M3's brakes and gearbox don't get dialed in over the next month, I'm going to look for alternatives (IX MR, probably not STi, but I hate how the Scoobies look). BMW 335i is more $$ than we wanna spend, with a dashboard from a F-150 truck! and the forthcoming Evo X looks to be at least as heavy as my current M..

I dunno..

Thoughts?

Best Regards,
Harry
