I can't imagine it happening on a stock Evo.

You are welcome to come and drive mine anytime! It really doesn't go side to side, it just pulls to one side.... the right. So if you are going to get on it hard, just push that wheel to the left and you will go straight.....

It can happen, you just have to roll in 1st, then get on it right as it's about to boost (3500?), when it hits boost, it will torque steer....

Then you have a problem other than torque steer.

Well, I actually posted about my problem with it in the past, however, that was with 400+ foot pounds of torque coming on suddenly...

I could get torque steer in my 117 HP Civic on stock Firestones when I got on it hard. It is not a matter of how much HP you have, it's a matter of FWD driving the car..... JMO....

Ok, if you say so, but if you want to fix the problem (it's not torque steer), then you should probably have it checked out. It's probably related to the alignment and/or suspension..

Here's one I took this weekend.

And here is the Elise. I prefer the Honda S2000 on the track though.

I believe him when he says he has a problem. I just don't think it's actually torque steer. It might be what feels like torque steer to him, but the description doesn't sound like it, and I know a 117HP Civic CANNOT get actual torque steer. Remember, it's TORQUE that causes it, not HP, and a 117hp Civic has about 50wtq. Yes, it also is probably a one-wheel wonder, but that's not even enough to do a burnout unless you dump the clutch at 7k rpm. That _might_ cause some torque steer due to one wheel burning out, but it would be minimal and short-lived. Actual torque steer can be felt in a 300whp/wtq FWD 1G ripping through 1st and 2nd with the steering wheel jumping back and forth as the driver fights to keep the car straight. I experienced in all of my 12-sec runs, and the Evo does not come close to mimicking that at my power level (and certainly not at stock power).

Torque steer comes from the front, not the rear! Although yeah, that would be a different kind of torque-induced steer you call power-on oversteer!

Do you ever get the feeling that your Evo is going off in a direction you are not pointing it? As in, you floor it, heading straight, and it the steering wheel, and car, goes to the right? That is torque steer! IMO all FWD cars will do it given the proper driver input

No, can't say that I have. Sometimes when I get on it from a 1st gear roll I can feel the tires struggling for grip for a moment but that's about the extent of it.

I once put down 30 ft of rubber with my stock Civmaster on the Firestones... dropping the clutch at maybe 3500rpm... due to no grip on the Frystones.... I kid you not. It did not torque steer during this sort of hair-brained manuever.... I was just dumping the clutch and frying it, and the tires, til they hooked up. It takes sheet tires a while to hook up you know

I do have a picture of the rubber tracks (I did it in my work parking lot! and it was actually 32 ft lol) but it is on an actual "picture" (film) not digital, so unable to post it......

I have never experienced torque steer on the track, just on the street doing what I described a few posts above... roll in first, then get on it hard... bing, you're off in the direction pre-determined by the EVO!

That's the thing, it's not just in one direction. Torque steer shoots the car back and forth all over the place, not just in one direction. It also depends on if the car has a front LSD. No, not any FWD can experience it - you have to have enough power to even cause it.
