The Freak Evo from SAUDI ARABIA (caution LS1 Inside )
I didn't miss any point. I simply provided arguement to your statment of displacement. I know full well that added displacement increases horsepower. But it's certainly not the be-all end-all of power production. Which was MY point.
I don't get it so many of you are against the new X because of the engine change, but this is cool?

Who made you the thread police? Because it sure as hell wasn't me. People are expressing their opinion on this topic and last time I checked that is one of the purposes of this site. If people are saying "that's stupid" or "it's a waste of time" without providing some insight on why they are saying that then why don't you intelligently ask them why they think that and then you can educate them instead of trying to belittle them and making yourself look like a jerk. Sorry for being off topic, but I had to blow off a little steam.

Thanks. I'm not trying to belittle anyone unlike you. Like my post said...If someone is going to take the time and energy to say something is stupid they themselves should post up why. It's their opinion, which I'm not saying people shouldn't have an opinion so layoff. Anyway..... comparing vehicles is not what should be debated about. Would someone compare a base Corvette with a base Lancer. Why would you? What about a base Z06 with a base Evo. Who would be the winner in a 1/4 there?
I don't think the weight difference of the engine will be a factor but I wonder what the double increase of torque is going to do to the transfer case or tranny. I'm guessing if they went this far everything else has been built up to handle the additional power.

I hate to jump into threads, but it needs to be done. I know I warned everybody about going off-topic, and so far it's been pretty good. I just want to go on record concerning generalizations, specifically: "#10 Racist, Prejudice Remarks". I've deleted a few. These will get you 15 points, and a ban. This thread is a useful place to discuss ideas and views. Let's keep it civil and respectful. Thanks guys.

I'm really suprised Vigo hasn't been banned with the amount of ignorant and offensive posts he creates on a daily basis. Anyways, Vigo, actually you are wrong =) There is a replacement for displacement (well sort of). Garrett/Honeywell makes it, its called Variable Nozzle Turbine (variable geometry turbine). Its Ok, you'll get over it.
Variable geometry turbo's allow small displacement engines (like the 4G63) to spoolup huge turbo's in linear fashion, without compromising the topend power capability of the turbo. The resulting power and torque curves are very similar to large displacement engines (i.e. V6's & V8's) with the only difference being that the smaller engine will of course be making more power per volume of displacement, which could cause reliability issues.
BTW:
There is no way in hell the factory AWD drivetrain will bolt to the LS1. Its not going to happen, sorry.

With all things held equal, more displacement will always make more power. Is that really too hard to understand?
In the end the smaller engine is always playing catch up.

I'd love to see this engine / SC in the X! Beats trying to get 500 reliable hp out of a 2.0L! If it only could do awd... I agree it's a tall order with the current engine placement.
What's up omarv6!
Haha yeah some of those friends are on my forum www.SilviaV8.com , and yes they are crazy.
Of course I am big into lsx swaps, so you know this get's a big
