It's useless to track a car that can't hook up at all. Get the suspension/tire setup reasonably close, then take it to the track and fine tune it.

Thats pretty stupid. I would bought a camaro or vette. The chasis in the evo is not made to be RWD or have all that weight in the front.

Nobody was trying to impress you, they probably just got the car running and were testing it out, quit being a troll.

Oooooh really ?? Then why does the Evo have most of it's weight in the front then!!?? An LS1 does not weigh all that much. It has an all Aluminum block and is fairly light considering it's a V-8. I just want to see how far these guys will go with this because I think it's funny and ingenious at the same time. Hell, if these guys get the all wheel drive going, I'm willing to give mad props.

As for the video, I think the only point was to prove that the thing even runs which is impressive considering.

Apparently you can't read any better than the SRT-4 guy. Either that, or the fact that you can't come up with any argument to refute me leaves you resorting to personal insults again...which seems more likely. I never said what matters is fuel mileage, and you'd have to truly be an idiot to get that impression from my posts. What matters is power, responsiveness and ease of installation regarding mods, efficiency, cost, maintenance, and size. Hang on a minute, that's exactly what I've been saying all along, as well as the post you quoted! Shocking! And yet you claim that "all I can say" is what matters is fuel mileage. Laughable at best. I was pointing out that GM's OHV motors achieve as good or better fuel mileage while making nearly twice as much power as the 4G. Obviously, you lack the reading skills to understand that, which is why I've gotten tired of this thread.

I can clearly see where you get the Prius comment though, given that my past two vehicles have been an LS1 Z28 and a 72 Stingray

What about specific output? How about a 600hp STOCK DISPLACEMENT LS1? Don't believe me?

http://www.rose-tech.com/pubstuff/148-0508-LS12.pdf

Oh no, you've been proved wrong yet again. In any case, this is an irrelevant argument. You'll rarely see an engine of that power output with that specific output put into production, for a variety of reasons that stem back to the fact that specific output generally decreases as displacement increases, all other things equal. Cars that may have engines like that are going to be expensive indeed. Specific output is just an excuse ricers and the ignorant use to combat the low ABSOLUTE output of their torqueless 4-bangers.

Oh, and in any case, I thought I'd let you know that the Z08 Corvette - what will be one step above the Z06, but not at the level of the supercar SS - will be sporting a ~635hp 6.2L OHV N/A V8. That car will probably be around $100,000.

Anyway, I'm done - I'll let you carry on with your idiocy and selective reading.

Well said mate. I can appreciate different engine designs, and I also understand the distinct advantages and disadvantages of each. Unfortunately, others in the Evo community are too busy nutswinging to understand the inherent advantages of different technologies.
Specific output is everything when it comes to engine performance. TIP: Go to school. It is very obvious and plain to see the advtanges of OHC over OHV. There really is no point in arguing, ask any engineer and he will tell you that OHV is inferior to OHC. Hell, ask wikipedia.com! To say that a 5.7L V8 makes 350 hp verson the 4G's 2.0L 276 hp really means nothing except that the LS1 is a really low specific output piece of crap (from the factory). High specific output is not an argument that ricers come up with, it is what engineer designers strive to achieve when building an engine. Why even own an Evo if you are such a OHV fan? Sell it and go take a ride in your hill billy rust bucket of a camaro and fly through a billboard dukes of hazard style!

As long as its tuned well that FI LS1 could make 500/500 conservatively no problem.Get that to the ground.Thats the hard part.Especially while attempting to incorporate the AWD. Hell of a project though thats for sure.

What a great idea carried out and implemented effectively.

To those of you who have hijacked the thread and turned it into another useless hp/liter debate please stop. This kind of debate is only carries weight when there are rules restricting displacement.

the ohc ohv debate is useless as well each has their inherent strengths and weaknesses. Every engineer will not tell you that ohc is better or more efficient. Ex: how many ohc 500hp stock vehicles get 30mpg highway? None. Ohv? the LS7 does.

Lol you should get a couple of your friends to sit in the back, and see how it runs. Looks very fun imagine that car pulling up to you and hearing the V8 sound.
