Anyone with a IX and Vishnu v400?
Damn. When I bought my Mazdaspeed Miata, I got the Xede and vishnu abandoned that vehicle. Now I buy my EVO, sell my miata xede, & now I find out that vishnu abandoned the EVO. Rediculous. Just what better car are they trying to tune now... STIS?!
Vishnu has not abandoning anything, only expanding their product line into BMW tuning.
I have a Vishnu dyno tune (picked my own exhaust parts) and it runs 12.2 - this might be a bit slower than advertised but I dont launch the car like I hate it which is costing me time Im sure.
The car is simply flawless, stock filter, intake, just a TBE and tune. I have 20k on this setup and could not be happier. If I was not selling the car I would be checking out turbo upgrades though as the need for HP is addicting though.

Back in June of '06, I bought the Vishnu v380 which is just the mail-in flash without a TBE. It felt great, and then about about 2 months later, I started logging data, and found that it was knocking pretty bad in the midrange and top end (frequent knocksum spikes of 5, and occasional spikes of 10-15). Its supposed to be a safe tune for 91 octane, and I run 92 octane. The timing was very conservative, so it must have been a combination of too much boost with too little fuel. The boost was somewhat inconsistent too. Sometimes when I would stab the throttle at 4000-5000 rpm, the boost would peak and hold at 24-25 psi which was 1-2 psi higher than is was supposed to be. I had to make some mods to the tune using ECUFlash to get the knock and boost under control. For the price, I'd hardly say its worth it. Get a TBE from wherever you want, and then get tune from one of the more progressive tuners who tune with ECUFlash (where many more tuning parameters are available compared to ECUtek or any other tuning interface).
Vishnu hasn't abandoned the Evo market at all! I had my car tuned by Shiv a couple months ago. Like others have said, they are just spending a lot of time on other forums for turbo Bimmers and now the new turbo Mini.
I have a v400 on my IX, and it went from 225whp stock to 300whp and 309wtq Dyno Dynamics. All I have is their standard exhaust and Shiv's custom tuned flash.
Car should run 12.20s-12.30s@111-112mph on 93 octane pump gas with a nice sixty foot.
If you're worried about boost variance in extreme temperature changes, get a manual boost controller instead. My Forge UNOS is rock solid.

Well thanks everyone for the responses. In regards to the person saying that I was a "noob" for not understanding the differences in stages and that $6000 was off, This is the quote from AMS I received:

SO it wasn't wrong, and I do know the difference between the stages and what to expect from them. My original question was simply for people with the v400 package and how it felt. I originally asked AMS to quote me something that would give me around 300-350whp. That is what they sent me, I know not all of it is necessary but I'm sure they included parts they thought would work well together and provide even more than what I was looking for.
In regards to Vishnu abandoning the Evo market, I emailed Dustin and here's what he said:
There is a funny thing about being an automotive tuner, when you are the one making all of the ground breaking developments everyone loves you. However, as soon as you have won 1 lap of america, and broken a good number of records, there isn't much left to do, or develop for that matter. This is our story, and it has been for quite some time. We are always one of the very first to market, and always make top quality products. We make the products that shape the market. One thing we wont do, is make parts that wont be used by the every day driver. A 1,000hp evo may be fun, but in all reality, who wants a car they can't actually drive. I know I certainly don't.
And this is when we come to the term "abandonment." We have heard this term from the Miata guys, the Subaru guys, and now the Evo guys. For some reason, if you refuse to make parts that simply do not make sense (like 7,000hp FWD evos) then all of the sudden you are labeled as the company that abandoned the community, and no one ever remembers everything that you contributed to get the after market to where it is today.
So to answer your question, our support is second to none, which is something we pride ourselves in.
With the Flash you are always welcome to send it back to us with a dyno chart, if you feel that adjustments need to be made, however the flashes are normally so spot on that it is rare to need any major adjustments.
Sorry this was a little long, but it strikes a personal cord when I hear people saying that we have abandoned a market.
I thank the people that gave their insight as to what they thought of the v400 package. The AMS stage 1 includes a boost gauge and fuel pump, I have the gauges already and from what I read, a fuel pump is more of a precaution at the 300whp level. So my next step is to ask the people with the stage 1 Evo IX's, what kind of whp are you making?.

Vishnu IX V400 consists of: Xflash ECU flash, downpipe, hi-flow catcon; and catback exhaust. $1995/ NO installation.
You're original post makes it sound that AMS' comparable offering is $6k. The package you got quoted for offers MUCH more. (mostly stuff you don't even need)
Just break down the price for their flash, dp, cb, cat-con if you're truely looking to make a proper comparison. AMS's price= $1630/ no install. And their flash includes dyno time.
Considering your location, seems like an obvious choice, doesn't it??

380 bhp is roughly 270-290 whp depending on the dyno. Stock Evo's usually put down around 230-250 whp. So the v380 advert is effectively claiming about a 40 whp gain on a IX. That's pretty much at the limit of what can be extracted from a stock Evo on pump gas, so its very good. However, any *compentent* tuner can come within 5 whp of that.
