to sum up my review, my 9 made approx 340hp, corrected to standard, reading dynojet-like numbers on a load-bearing dyno. started at 262hp, 100% stock, where the average 9 made 255 on that dyno.

i road race that tune, get over 27mpg on the highway, and have only an exhaust with a cat and a tune. there was a good question earlier as to why other tuners get almost close to the same power output but only after quite a few other parts (IC pipes, O2 housing, intake, pump, and test pipe). obviously, other tuners aren't as skilled. additionally, and this is partly speculation, but it seems that people want to sell parts. i think that it was back in the late-90's when it was generally accepted that the-more-mods-the-better and most of the other tuners sell to that crowd. its profitable and isn't a bad business model as it generates continuous sales over a longer period of time.

well, more isn't always more, as the vishnu group clearly proved. and reliability and consistency are way more cool in my book than a bunch of parts that turn your evo into project jetta rather than ZO6 competition. a buddy at work is always fiddling with his turbo project car, adjusting the mbc as the weather changes, and that just struck me as pretty aftermarket. like back when fast and the furious was cool.

best of luck with your choice. i'd get the vishnu dyno tune again.

oh yeah, tune, ebay exhaust, and high flow cat = $1500. if you don't get the hfc, you can take $230 off of that price. is this car for a road course or for drag? i just ask because if you want absolute power, AMS is probably the way to go because they have a more complete upgrade path should you want to progress to those uppermost levels of power.

I've been shopping around but I don't understand why other tuner's flashes don't produce as much power as vishnu's claimed? I would think that a custom flash would especially produce more power than a mail in reflash? can anyone tell me why this is?

I think you may have answered your own question.

Anyone curious about V400 or V380 can also contact dbsears7 (think thats his exact user name) in the NW section as well as Mrfred.

i actually bought a Xede for my IX when i first bought the car, i had nothing but trouble with it and with the way the car ran and even worse with the customer service. im not trying to bash the company, just trying to help people with MY experience. so after 4 months of nothing but problems i managed to get my money back and went with another company, very satisfied now!!!
