I don't understand how it could be installed backwards, but I think mine's fine since I've been running it the same way for 66000 miles ~ .^_^.

...and CasperGSR... the answer is "negative." VW guys are so not FTW hahahaha

yes but is the "flutter" going to damage something? it still holds boost correct?
what are the pro's con's of having it backwards? (and i admit it theres a little rice in me where i'd like to hear it a little louder but not so much that id ever consider a VTA)

Installing it backwards puts unnecessary stres on the turbo. This has been discussed several times here on the forums. When you close the throttle the DV allows the pressure in the IC piping to be released. If you install the DV backwards, the DV does not release as quickly and the compressed air in your intercooler piping tries to go backwards through the turbo. With a turbo that could be spinning as fast as 100,000 RPM you probably don't want to have air trying to spin it backwards. It will significantly decrease the life of the turbo.

Dude, it's not a big freakin deal. I installed my forge backwards and have never had problems with it. Only slight flutter at freeway speeds, which is to be expected from any DV.

The reason it's backwards you ask? The stock vacuum line is too short to install it the "right" way.

i really doubt it was installed backwards from the factory.

either you bought yours used and the previous owner had it on backwards, or you simply had some minor job in the engine bay that required its removal, and the mechanic put it back on backwards.

It's a good idea to check if people have theirs on backwards as it's easy to install it the wrong way, but i wouldn't start checking if every DV was installed right from factory lol

If your Evo was stock, you DV would not be brass. It would be plastic since you have an 8. So, whoever upgraded your DV messed up, not mitsu. Not saying it doesn't happen though.
