Transmission Bolt Broken off in Block!!!

Yeah I noticed that one of my transmission bolts was broken off in my block. I'm rebuilding and should have around 600-630 whp. do you think that I should definetly get this taken out or do you think that the other 4 bolts might be able to hold that power. I'm definely leaning towards trying to get it taken out. I've drilled and tried to remove it with easy outs. but still will not come at all. Do you think it matters a lot??? if so I'll have to bring it to a machine shop I guess and let them do it.

please let me know what ya'll think

thanks,
john

Much easier to take care of it now than after it's all back together. Also, if the others break and tranny misaligns... bad things could happen.

yeah I actually took my block to a local machine shop this morning to let them take a look at it. they said they might be able to get it out. and if not they said they will drill and tap another larger sized hole for a bigger bolt. this would probably work since in this certain hole the transmission does not have threads. its just a hole that the bolt goes through and attaches to the block. I might have to dremel a little bit on the hole to make it bigger for the larger bolt but thats about it.

All you need is a bolt extractor set and a drill. Drill into the bolt, then use the corresponding left-hand threaded extractor and BOOM...it will come right out. Buy a set and it will save you money later.

+1 can't go wrong w/ a bolt extractor set.

I have used the bolt extractor before, and it should do the job.

Same thing happened to me...bolt snapped and the transmission flexed sideways as I pressed in the clutch pedal. Did a high rpm burnout one day and BOOM, clutch disc exploded. The transmission bolts are VERY important, none should be left to chance. Any machine shop worth a damn could get the bolt out without destroying the threads, I've done it many times.
