Well............my goal with my EVO was to build the Ultimate all around EVO I could. It started when we competed in the Car and Driver event and the goal has never left my mind. That was one of, if not the best, ever event we were involved in.

My car is a 2004 EVO RS. No a/c.

Dyno'ing the car on our LOW reading Mustang Dyno, 643 whp and 535 ft lbs.

1/4 mile in full street trim, driving to and from the track on Toyo radials, 9.77 at 148.32 mph

Autocross, 4th place finish with Trent driving at Winged Warrior. Trent has only autocrossed maybe 5 times in his lifetime.

The car has been set up to stop, corner and accelerate, not concentrating on any one single portion, only to do everything well.

The car will still knock out 27+mpg on the highway. Has a full factory interior, double DIN DVD, navigation, CD player and 6 upgraded speakers. I take my son to school in it just about everyday. Last weekend my wife, daughter and a friend of mine all cruised it up to an old school cruise in.

Next up if you want a car that is more comfortable than mine, my brother Daniel's 2003 EVO8.

His car is set up the same as mine but uses our 67 Ptrim turbo, has every ounce of soundeadening still in it, cold A/C etc. Also has the same coil overs on it, upgraded rotors/pads, etc. His will also knock out 27 mpg, it's very quiet as he uses a Magnaflow muffler on our 3" exhaust. Both of our cars of course still have all the door beams in and the air bags, we have to roll fast but safe with our families in the car!

Dyno from his car is 654 whp, 525 ft lbs.

1/4 mile, 9.86 at 146.7 mph, this was on BFG drag radials.

Has not autocrossed/road raced his but being it is identical to my car it is more than capable and would be hard to beat.

Both of our cars are driven to and from the tracks with NO changes. Drive them, run them and drive them home.

I think you will be hard pressed to find two better more well rounded EVO's than those.

We have built some customer cars that are equal to or would even outperform ours. Dennis, Babor, Trent, Peter and Tom's are just a few that come to mind from the last few months of builds.

David....those look like what I am talking about. Little heavy on power, but if the power band is good, then its a good thing. Think they could road course well?

Any other ones out there?

BTW, this isn't really a poll, as I am just looking for some special cars. I know many of the obvious ones, but I want to see all the possibilities

For this particular case, A/C is a bonus, but nto at all a requirement. emissions and efficiency (mpg) would be much more important

Handling is also very important

I would like to nominate PlayerZ's EVO VIII. The engine is an AMS-built 2.3L stroker with a GT37R turbo - but that is not what makes it great. It is the suspension package that really seals the deal! It has the same custom built Showcase Mitsubishi-spec Ohlins DA shocks that have won the Solo2 National Championship the past 2 years. They also run similar spring rates to the AMS Time Attack EVO, last I heard.

The key is, due to the design of the valving specs, the car rides BETTER on regular roads than a stock EVO. The dampning is so much more compliant, that although you can feel every little bump in the road, it doesn't beat you up like the stock shocks sometimes can. Here is a rundown of what's on the car:

2004 EVO VIII, Tarmac Black

AMS 2.3L /GT37R full build including dual fuel rails, 8 injectors
- 716whp on C-16 ; 520whp on 93 octane pump gas
- useable powerband from 4500rpms to 8500 rpms
- extra torque of the stroker makes it easier to drive around town than a stock 2.0L
Shep-built transmission and transfer case
Quaife front LSD
Ohlins Flag series double adjustable piggy back rezzie shocks, custom spec
Girodisc 2-piece brake rotors/Porterfield pads
EVO Dave CF trunk
RalliArt Spirit of Competition CF hood
15% tint all around
17x8 Kosei K1-TS with 244/45/17 Nitto drag radial (drag use)
18x9.5 5Zigen FN01R-C with 285/30/18 Advan Neova (street use)
18x10 WedsSport SA-70 with 285/30/18 Advan A048 (AX/TA use)
Alpine DVD/Nav system for those road trips!
Tasteful weight reduction while keeping the interior pretty much stock

Anyway, that's what I think is the ultimate all-around car. It can do well at autocross (on low boost!), kill on the open track, run consistent low 10's, and be civil enough to cruize to the mall to go shopping with the old lady. . .

Yes, Daniel's car will do well on the road course/autocross, it is set up exactly like mine. We are both using Apexi N1 coil overs and upgraded bars and a few misc. bushings.

I would have to go with David's or any of the three Buschur cars (David, Dan and J-Rod). Those three cars set the standard in what I would consider the "ultimate all around Evo".

Evolutionary and Silencer has great rides also. Are we voting? Or just tossing out names? Do we need to put up photos or what? Where is this thread going? what is the final outcome of this thread? Prizes? shootout? Photoshoot?

I sure to drive daily on C16, yes sir. Is that a down side? Are you mad because the fuel is too expensive for you? I am getting some BS negative vibes from your question, maybe it's just me. My car would easily pass 500 whp on 93-94 octane with no alky injection.

After this weekends race it is getting changed over to E85, will that make you happier? Just let me know what I need to do to make YOU happy, OK? haha

Charles was looking for a normal fast daily driver.

I dont believe running leaded fuel constitues as a daily driver. Once you're 200 miles from your shop where are you going to fill up?

Your car making 500whp on pump would be impressive and imo a great daily driver car.

I think 500 on pump is much more impressive than 650 on c16.

I appreciate you doing everything you can to make me, the customer, happy =-)

Running alchol injection would be considered daily driver approved imo because if you were to go on a long trip somewhere you wont have an issue finding a home depot, lowes etc to find some alcohol.

Cheers!

personally to me an ultimate evo would be something with a smallish turbo (fpgreen) , suspension to match, bigger brakes, stock block, cams etc retain relliability of stock engine and still easily run 400-450whp
