< < 50Trim EVO VS CL55 AMG > >

Hey fella's,

So a friend of mine has an 05 or 06 CL55 AMG. I haven't seen him in a while, and basically any "convo" we have is through a mutual friend who works with him, and goes to school with me. So he see's both of us very often.

Anyways, my friend w/the CL55 AMG talks maddd crap about how he can rip my Evo with his Cl55. Now i'm not one to ever start stuff like that or get pulled into racing anyone, I try and stay humble lol. But since we're all friends, it doesn't bother me.

Since we have really busy schedules, we haven't really ran into eachother at all in a while, but plan on soon.

There's an empty field out east from us, thats just miles of empty space. No traffic, pedestrians, or anything like that.

So we're thinking of doing a few runs if we ever get around to it.

I'm just curious as to how close it will be. I'm fairly certain that I can take him. The thing is I want to do it on pump gas, not race gas lol.

I checked the specs on his car, its about 4300lbs. 5.4L V8 Supercharged. 493hp/516ft-lbs tq

Damn heavy car lol.

My car is an IX MR with AMS 50trim kit on it. On 93 octane I put down 403whp/332lb-ft tq and on 103oct. I put down 447whp/410ft-lb tq. I am also on stock clutch for the time being, it seems to be holding up just fine for now.

Obviously I have a huge weight advantage over him, but I just want to have a better idea if I can beat him on pump gas alone, or will I have to run higher octane.

Some extra info:
- He wants to go from a dig and then try from a roll. He doesn't want it limited to just a 1/4 mile or so.
- No we are not going autocrossing, or taking it to a road course. This is how it is. So please no "take it to the road course, autox, twisties, etc. and show him" type comments.

Thanks in advance fellas!

- AMS 50trim Evo VS 06 CL55AMG, who will win?
- Will it be possible to beat the benz on pump gas alone?
- How will my car hold up post 1/4 mile?

Pour some race gas in to be 100% sure. I raced a sl55 amg and they are not that fast, ok past 130 you will need a lot of power to overtake him.

your numbers on what type of dyno if I may ask?...I know the benz is heavy but dont be mislead...from a roll these suckers will do some damage...I have seen videos of a stock E55 destroying a pullied cobra BADLY in the a 1/4...AMGs have :

1 - high torque (Very important ) cancels out the weight issue kind of...from a low roll or a dig.
2- the best gearing for automatics...his tranny alone without all this power would give him an edge over you IMHO.

please dont take this as an offense...your asking for our opinions here..IF your numbers are dynojet numbers I would go race gas for sure...but if they are mustang numbers you could beat him.,,,not trying to scare you at all...I want you winning

Me...I would go race gas anyways ...unless he knows what the hell is going on or has some background ( I doubt it)...

in short...go for race gas and GL

Be safe. Walk the entire area before you race. Better yet, take it to the track. Don't become another news story.

No problem.....He just gave up 100whp just for weighing so much. That car is making someware in the nerghborhood of 450whp minus the 1000lbs extra he has...its like racing a 350whp car....you do the math....not much of a contest.

Is this going to be offroad or a dirt road?
You said empty field... just wondering.
If it's offroad.. you will desimate him with the AWD. He won't be able to hook up from a dig.

If you start in your powerband I don't think he will catch you until you are into your 6th gear. You actually have a useable 5th so it will keep you ahead until 130-140. Lol just shift real fast.

the dyno used was a dynojet, and the field is paved lol. I just meant an open space.

Put race gas in and call it a day.

Always go with the Shock and Awe option

Put the race gas in and video tape the match. Also, if you lose by a car length or whatever.....he still payed too much for that extra 10 feet to be ahead of you.
