I hear ticking but I attribute it to injector noise.

Post up a video clip if you can. It's not a spun bearing. There is definately a possibility that the new lifters are also ticking due to improper installation, etc... Just a thought.

^^ Yeah ticking has always been there for me, but this time it's a rattle that gets faster or slower with RPM until around 3K rpm when it stops. The rattle used to come and go, and rattled less when it was hot than when it was cold, but now it does it all the time. I can't figure out where the noise is coming from! Sounds like from inside the valvetrain somewhere.

ill make sure i do that..

i dont think its anything serious.. but the sound is just bugging me.. and i always get comments like "whats that ticking sound?" when i take someone for a ride.

as for improper installation.. well i changed the lifters, its no rocket science.. did it with the cams still on, and the sound is still EXACTLY the same.. same volume, same frequency, same RPM.. so if it was an installation issue, the sound could've changed to a different tick.. or moved somewhere else in the valvetrain.. i mean, what are the chances of the same lifter going bad again?

oh and btw, the sound started while i was at a drifting session, so the car was under heavy load.

My car does that to, but only on its cold start ups. Once the engine warms up, it doesnt tick. Also it only ticks on idle.

I had the ticking from the day I bought it. Over 30k later it is still there. I figured either it was the lifters or the injectors.

On my old Ford I had a 2.0L Zetec and surprisingly enough I had the same ticking. That lasted all the way over 140k when I sold it.

Im not insulting your intelligence at all, but are u sure its not ur injectors and you just noticed it 2 months ago? If the ticking is loud enough any one that kinda knows what there looking at should find it. Get a second or 3rd opion.

its not lifters, its not injectors .. and its not normal! if this is normal.. i seriously dont know how u guys are living with your evo's!

i know my car.. and ive owned many cars before.. its way too loud to be injectors.. and i dont have stock injectors anyways.. im running sard 700cc's, and the sound started about a month after installing them so, its cant be the injectors. if the the sound was something "normal" it wouldnt have started all of a sudden after the car was under heavy load, and i would have had it from day one.. it wouldnt just magically appear! it was very loud the first day, i thought i spun a bearing, but the sound seems to be comming from the head (once again, not injectors) oh and yes i did bleed the lifters.

so any other suggestions??
