I'm guessing insurance is killing you, how about a Honda + decent turbo kit, WRX, LS1 Transam, Maybe a Mustang. Even though some of these cars have "high" rates they are nowhere near the EVO / STI rates.

I would personally get a newer Civic Si. Possibly the '05 Hatch or the '06-'07 Coupe. I don't know why. It's a decent car which can get a plethora of upgrades but not too over the top.

300zx tt, mk3 supra turbo, 944 turbo, mr2 turbo, late 90's 2.5rs impreza, gsx eclipse, 3000gt vr4, galant vr4, 240sx, civic, integra, miata, camaro/firebird/transam, mustang, fc rx7 turbo, fd rx7 turbo, c4 corvette early mid 80's, sc300, 80's toyota cressida w/1jzgte swap, dodge omni turbo, any older BMW, porsche 914, nissan/datsun 280z all of these can be had for under 7000 most of the time and all have fun factors and aftermarket support, some more than others of course. Personal preference I would go with the 944 turbo good performance, quality name, factory turbo, plus its own spec 944 racing series in NASA.

Good suggestions, I'll actually look into most of those. They are all good ideas. Great input and I appreciate your post.

Surprisingly it has nothing to do with the car payments (which I'm down to only a few grand total now) or the car insurance at $347/mo which I pull out of my own pocket. Surprisingly, I want to take the money to start an investment company. Yes, I'm only 20.

That sounds like a good deal, unfortunately with him being in Maryland, I'm almost certain I wouldn't make it there and back before the sun goes down. The GS-T Eclipse, does sound kind of good though...

HAHA, "step down to a civic." Yeah, I really don't think I could. There are WAY TOO MANY of them racing around these Kent streets. Especially with the illegal races taking place right here in this city. So sad to see an all-motor civic pull up next to me and rev their engine...

I would go with:

Toyota MR2 Turbo
Eclipse GSX
Older (1989-1990) Mustang GT V8 or LX V8...........can be found for cheap and are easy to modify

An R34 if I can get one, possibly the new skyline if it's even worth it..

Personally the I think the Evo is the only car I need for a while, has everything I could ask for in a sports car

People think they are gold with the prices, but if you find the right one, they are fun cars that are easy to mod.
2nd gen GSX is definitely better looking than the 1st gen, but they are notoriuos for crank walk.

For the amount you want to spend, a 2nd gen Toyota Mr2 (90-95) is the best choice. That's car is a blast to drive, it's can be fast if you mod it right. 2nd would be a 1st gen Eclipse, it's basically an Evo with older tech. Or may be if you lucky, you can find a Buick T-type or Grand National, they can be scary fast for cheap.
