Gray=trunk release cable
Black=wing brake light you don't even have.(kinda weird how much the evo and US lancer have in common)
I know for sure because I just checked.

NOW. Here is a good question. Whoever answers gets a...cookie? lol. What is this harness for? It hangs to the right of the trunk light as you can see in the pic.

Lol I will fedex it ASAP. So its a plug for a rear wiper from what I gather. I will try to test it tomorrow.

So if we wanted to get the trunk release option on our car alarm, we would need to have a motor installed in the trunk?

I'd wager a guess that it's for the sub if you have the SSL package.

Okay just to clairify for everyone...I went to the dealer, and these are NOT for a lancer wing brake light, these wires were for my trunk light.

Then why is it going into the actual trunk LID? sounds like dealer is dumb. I could be wrong tho, it just doesnt make sense that the wire would go into the lid if its for the light

They aren't dumb seeing as how they fixed it for me as well...and now I have a trunk light!

They agreed that it was just some weird random event that would have pulled them out, but the only assumption they could come up with was that the loom was installed mildly incorrectly too tight and pulled out when the trunk was opened.

Ah, understood. So you didn't have a trunk light before, I must have missed that.

is that to me? if so then that WAS my trunk light and that same black cable he was asking about goes to my wing brake light that I HAVE hooked up. but I guess its different on the EVOs and they decided to run the trunk light wire to the lid.
