Increase cylinder temps? Decrease power? ......no.
EGR valves have a primary purpose of decreasing NOX emissions in gasoline engines. Under part throttle conditions, exhaust gas is recirculated back into the intake...this is done becasue exhaust is inert and dilutes the air(it doesn't burn anymore than it already has). This actually COOLS combustion temperatures and decreases emissions. As a side benefit, EGR can also give mild gains in fuel economy. These are both good things. (Incidently, VVT can accomplish many of the same goals - although it is a more costly system)
EGR valves are designed to shut off under heavy load...so when you do a 1/4 mile run...or full throttle out of a corner, you get no exhaust gas dilution.
So by going through all the effort of removing the egr system, you are increasing the emissions of your car, giving it worse gas mileage, increrasing cylinder temps, and not gaining anything in performance...not to mention throwing MIL lights. To each his own, I suppose.

Evodan, don't you know kreionic (charles)? I think he told me about your problems with your car (shop put in revolvers and couldn't get the car started again). Hope your car is doing better now!
Removing the EGR creates more power. The less hot exhaust gases being ingested, the better. Do you honestly think that recycling hot exhaust gases back into the compressed intake stream is a good idea? **** no. It was put there by tree hugging pussies that want to save the planet. The only problem is, if you remove it, you will throw a CEL.
