tats hillarious......def a Fan Boi.....
but seriously. I do like the K&N intake, it's my $$ and I do appreciate everyones comments. I bought it to see if it worked and I'll post up my log when my Tuner (Matt) sends them to me. But the curve was very linear. I totally happy with what tured out to be a 12.5 run. My best trap was a 111.70.....I'm thinking bout the O2 housing and Fuel pump and maybe the new LC1 from innovate that has a guage with the package for around $299 msrp. then I can have some better data to Tne with. Then prob cams...anyone have ideas of which ones? I want to go the aggressive route. I've seen the 280's that can be tuned for daily driving. My car is already loud so I might as well keep going that route ---(agressive)-----and see where the stock Turbo can take me..I had at one time wanted 500whp and still do but if I can get into the 11's and see how far I can go into the 11's on the stock Turbo then for now that's my goal.....I've talking to lots of peeps about the Intercoolers...my stocker is showing the abuse of daily Interstate travel...lots of different routes to take like UICP and LICP....and ofcourse Manifold...but want the best bang for the buck at this point I have about $1390 in all my Mods..so I think that is pretty good for a Evo Newbie....comments about which route I should take next? Thnx...for all the posts I appreciate your ideas and info....all of them...yes even his, he knows his stuff..even though he's a..(well you know)....

Also, learn to drive the car better before you put more money into it.
^ I understand that, but seriously come on......I wasn't trying to be a d!ck or anything just giving some advice. This forum has been around for quite awhile now and there should be all the info he needs around here.

well the track continued to get worse and worse...dont worry...I can't type..it's in my nature to be different. Not to follow the crowd. My last 2 runs I got sideways in both 1st and 2nd. the last run I had to shut it down just could not get any traction at all. Yes it could be my driving, I know some of it was driver error or the lack of experience driving an all wheel drive. My tires are shot too as I believe I stated in my orig..post...
I was going to be happy with maybe a 12.7 but when I turned the 12.5 I was in disbelief, because the start was not comfortable. They had the barrels up in my lane to keep the honda ricers in the groove, and the lights came on me as I wasn't ready for them. I'll try to scan up my time sheets and get my Tuner to get my Logs so that you can look at them. I did do lots better in my 60 ft's. I think the tire spin helped that allot. I only got in 5 runs which is enough, but the place was packed and I didn't fool with tire pressure or weight reduction at all. I need to swap out my worn tires for the ones I just bought and maybe take some extra weight out of my trunk that I dont need and fiddle with tire pressure a bit to improve my times.
I did not get into 5th gear I left it in 4th and I was right at the rev limit at the line. I had tried before on pervious outtings to shift into 5th but it hurt me badly. One extra shift to screw up and slow me down.

Unless you bought some of that stuff used and didn't pay for your tuning, those mods costs a good bit more than $1390.
Being different is fine, but typing like a cracked-out monkey is not a way to be different. Please type properly, because it is a rule, it makes it easier for us to read, and it doesn't make you look like a crackmonkey.
I don't know why you're so stuck on the Typhoon when all you have to do is remove the little pipe and be done with it. There is nothing special about that pipe to help you, but there certainly is something special about it that HURTS you. Go ahead and be "different." You'll never reach full potential without it.
Bluebyu, the whole warrtalowned thing is an Off-Topic joke. Go check out the thread, and you'll see. Those OT crazy nuts have been waiting on a chance to use that pic...

Well guys, I must be a crappy driver too.
I was there last night and I'm also the one that tuned his car ... well, technically I tuned my car and gave him a similar tune until he gets his WBO2 and we can get some real AFR values to work with. He is currently tuned at 22 psi (23 peak) with AFRs around 11.5 in the midrange tapering to ~11.0 at 7000 (based on compared NBO2 and MAF curves). Timing is advanced during spool up, drops to 3* advanced at peak torque, then smoothly increases to 12* advanced at 7000. He's running a custom MIVEC map that I built for my car, so there is power to be made there given the difference in mods between us.
Last night my best run was a 12.64 @ 110.1 with a 1.62 60' (stock tires, stock clutch). I honestly don't know where I could be picking up time other than flat shifting. I crossed the line at about 7400 in 4th.
As far as the Typhoon intake, I honestly told him the same thing you guys are telling him. I heard the thing was crap and severely threw off the MAF readings causing problems with the mix. I honestly planned on taking a while to adjust the MAF scalings for this. However, when I showed up to tune his car his fuel trims were dead on. I saw a deviation of +3% max in the STFTs and LTFTs stayed at 0 (well, 100 in EvoScan). This deviation in STFTs was only present at idle. STFTs decreased and settled in the +1% range during cruise conditions. It seems that the intake didn't skew the readings much at all.
I will also add that the intake (be it the filter or the pipe) did wonders in smoothing the airflow curve during WOT. Airflow is super smooth over the entire rev band in comparison to my stock intake and filter.

A 1.62 60', which is hard to believe on the stock clutch and on a track where people are claiming it was slippery, would give you a 12.1 with a 110 trap speed. My 12.26 @ 110 was a 1.66 60' in an MR like you.

I'm thinking of cams next. Are the GSC's better than say the Cosworths? I think HKS makes Mivec cams don't they?
