thanks SicklyWicked and sikrsix for the info. I am currently building my evo with the ETS 57-trim turbo kit along with all of the supporting mods to make me reach my 400+whp goal on pump gas. I have been talking to my tuner and he recommended ACT 6-puck sprung clutch. He wanted me to say away from the street disc cause it won't hold the power and i did not ask him about the xtreme. I usually go to the track twice a year and make 3 passes each time i go. Mostly this clutch is going to be used for DD and 20-130 pulls on the closed roads of course .

Sorry for stealing the thread.

I had a 6 puck on my honda swap, it SUCKS in traffic especially if you have a heavy sprung pressure plate. I spoke with an ACT rep and he said that if you take off smoothly with a 6 puck, you're ruining it....no ifs ands or buts.

the ACT xtreme with 6-puck will most DEFINITELY hold a **** ton of torque. It wouldn't be the BEST daily driver, but that's all relative. It's like really big cams, a huge exhaust, or a really big turbo- "friendliness" is lost, but some people are easier to let that go for the performance advantage- its all relative. The guy who installed my clutch had a DD act 6-puck and he loves it. It's grabbier and harsher, but if you want to push 700+lbs of torque and dont want to spend $3k+ on a mult-disk clutch, you cant beat the act 6puck with the xtreme duty pressure plate. Now, if you need a friendly DD without spending $1600+, then you can't beat the act xtreme duty with street disc- i have it and it engages BETTER than stock but can hold 550ft/lbs+

A honda with a cable clutch?!? <-- That would suck!

I drive my evo everyday, everywhere, anywhere,anytime.. On an xtreme 6 puck(3200 series) .. If it went out tomorrow, Id put in another one in it!

what bothered me was the engagement noise.......freaking horrible.....couldn't take it.........

So your honda with a 6 puck was a cable then right?? Like I said??? My friend built a nissan sentra (ya i know) lol And had a 6 puck cable clutch.. The two cars were not even close to comparison.. I would never do a puck/cable combo.. Youd have one leg bigger then the other for sure!!!

Either you are confused are they dont know crap. There is no such thing as a xtreme with hd pressure plate! In a clutch kit you have two basic components. The disk and the pressure plate. ACT makes a xtreme pressure plate and a HD pressure plate. You cant have both at once.

I have the XTSS (xtreme pressure plate and street disk) and love it! Someone a couple posts above said this cluch holds 550 tq, according to ACT it is 636 tq. There are very few evos with over 636tq.

I have the exedy 6-puc with prolite flywheel. I hate it for daily driving. It makes me seem as if I don't know how to drive. Hard to start off on an incline without getting high rpms and it has a lot of noise. I will be changing to the act street full disc set up.

oops....my bad, what i meant to say was ACT xtreme and ACT HD, not xtreme HD . I really need to start proof reading before posting . But back to the question, do they lock or not at higher RPM. Buschur racing/AMS dont recommend ACT! I wonder why?
