What Kind of HKS Cams are these??

Hey just recently open my valve cover to see if i really had cams in it.When i purchased the car, they had told me it had cams. The car does idle a little weird but i wasn't sure it reall did have cams. Well lucky me it really does... Now the question what kind of cams are they. I know they are HKS cause they say right on them. Can anyone tell which HKS cams are these... 272's or 280's??? which is better??

I would bet money that they are either 264's, 272's, 280's, or a combination of those. Does that help you out?

Your camera skills are awful! Ask the person where you bought it from, or compare it to someone else's HKS cams.

there is def other numbers on the cam shaft. you need to look a little harder. after you get the numbers you should be able to cross reference the id number with HKS and find out which ones you have.

good luck

cant you narrow it down based on how aggressive the idle is? As in the "loppiness?"

you really should be able to tell just by the idle
280 will have a supper loud loop and idle like a R1 motorcycle
272's will also have a loud and distincitive loop but not close to as loopy as 280's
264's almost sound like stock

okay if i'm going by sound, i believe its the 272's. the way it idle's. i compared it to my neighbors car and my car does have a distinctive loop sound. we started both our cars side by side, and my car does sound meaner.... i'm still debating about that though. I'm still debating if its 264's.......

A lot of the idle issues can be tuned out. Sound is just not a definitive way of deciding.

There are Numbers/letters that are etch'ed into the hex portion of cam that you would put a wrench onto to turn cams, between rockers #2 and #3 or between Cylinder #1 and Cylinder #2. Get the Letters/numbers and I can tell you what cams they are. Should start with AM if memory serves me correctly.
