Lookin to dump 3k on the evo
OK. Here's my .02 about meth and I'll leave it alone. Meth allows you to run more boost by effectively raising the octane and reducing charge temps. Meth is good for short duration performance, ie. drag racing.
My advice is to have the car properly tuned for the fuel and boost that you intend to run. Forget the meth if you aren't drag, or God forbid, street racing.
On the head studs-It's a worthwhile upgrade no matter what power you make.
+1 on the valve springs on certain cams.
-1 on the cam gears. I've watched the dyno results change significantly (25+whp with a better torque curve) on my car as the cams were dialed from 0/0 to -2/-2

Yea, my Exedy clutch cant really take drag racing, neither can my wallet. So meth is definatly out for my situation. Pump gas only for me.
With the Tomei cams I will do springs due to their high lift, but your saying no on the gears?
But I guess I could still make about the same power with the HKS cams and save money I would spend on springs/gears and put that toward other mods.

The point of the game is not to wait for stupid things to break... if you have a chance to change them do it.
If you're doing your cams, you might as well do the headstuds as well.
As far as the cams go, I wouldn't do them right now and put that money elsewhere.
If $3k is what I had to spend right now, this is what I'd do:
Test pipe
SMC Meth kit
arp headstuds
HKS 272 or 280 cams
ETS 3.5" fmic with piping
o2 housing
Re-tune
Not sure what that adds up to.
Meth isn't used JUST to up the boost. You don't need to be RACING 24/7 to have meth.
