Oil Cooler Fan.... What Do You All Think?

After searching, i only found one thread where this was addressed. The original poster failed to come back and post his findings. However, I also read that he had used a pusher type, instead of a puller type like I would have used.

So here it goes...

The stock dimensions of our oil cooler are 6'' x 5'' x 1/2'' Am I correct on this??
It looks pretty damn close to me anyway...

So I called everywhere trying to find a 6'' electric fan. Yea good luck. I work at Advance Auto Parts and couldn't even find anything. I called hayden and they didn't even have one. So I gave flex-a-lite a call. They have a fan that might work. Part # 106. Here is a link. Scroll down at look at the specs of part #106. This particular fan can pull 300cfm of air, so pretty decent for something that small.

http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html/trimline-fan.html

I do have an oil temp gauge so I could see if there are any positive results. I figure all I need is to buy the fan, and a toggle switch. It seems to be a relatively cheap mod so I think it will be worth it.

Anyone have any oppinions. Has anyone else done this? Where can I get a smaller fan?

I would just install a larger oil cooler if you are have oil temp issues.

I actually thought about using an NX Ntercooler spray on the oil cooler. But dunno if that'll be good. I like the fan though. I live on the south and it's really really hot. I notice my oil temp gauge is pretty high.

Doesn't need a how-to.. buy an NX cooler kit and zip tie that business to the oil cooler!!

i think the only problem with the nx would be how long the stuff lasts and cost for little to no gains. its usualy for drag just to quickly cool the ic. i think the fan would be the best bet if you even really need it.

from the way i see it... a cooling fan will just slow the air down thats coming at it from the bumper... unless u are going to have it on all the time.. what is the speed of it going to be? wont it be more efficient of you are going 80 mph... without having a fan than to have a fan that only sucks air in at a speed of 50mph?

i would think just upgrading you oil cooler would be best...

yeah buy an B & M oil cooler. Got it from Summit racing for like 80 bucks with a fan. I upgraded mine since i got into an acciident. it's got a 300F thermal switch for the fan. I had to get fuel line and then cut my originally lines. Got some parts from Home depot works great. You'll have to do custom brackets. If you want pics I can post them up.

if you have an 03-04 with the IC sprayer you can "T" into that water line and use a windshield washer nozzel from any auto parts store along with a simple zip tie to cool the oil cooler.
