notice the roof line on the back of evo is high? evo's roof line is design to work with the wing. Mitsubish engineer spend countless hours in wind tunnel to achieve the control and handling current evo has. it is not fashion statement I agree, it's there to help the car more stable on high speed.

Actually evos were designed with a high roofline so the occupants can have more head room

Any sports car designer or engineer worth his salt would design the car to have a lower roofline for a lower center of gravity. But since the evo is based on a family sedan platform it has to be compromised.

i'd put the wing back on for road racing of course. It isn't necessary at all for drag.

as far as aesthetics .. wing = and is character of an Evo... but for the less informed car crowd who dont know what an Evolution is, is that your a Lancer with a big wing and thus the attempts for street racing by the guys in automatic Cavaliers with every "aftermarket" part from Checker Auto on. But is also good for keeping cops away...to them a spoiler means either a ricer or a fast car.

Wings just seem to invite trouble with the popo besides that seemingly every honda ricer lancer es trying to be an evo kid on the planet takes our wings and puts them through the ultimate disgrace by slapping them on rides not even your blind grandfather could appreciate.

Stereo systems so loud they blow chicks clothing right off...
hey now.. i've been looking for one of those for a while now..

to all the ix rs' out there, i did not mean your car has no *****, it just has no dick. the wing is designed for high speed applications, not for 1/4 mile. in this respect, the wing is FTW. the rs is also the cheapass model so they probably did it to save you cheapos a couple a bucks. oh, and if you didn't guess, i am for the wing.

And I enjoy my much lighter, front limited slip having "cheap" Evo VIII RS..

Also my RS came with the wing as an added option.......... I took it off!!!

The evo looks nothing like a lancer in any way.. Do you think a lancer with an evo wing looks like an evo?? I think lancers with full evo 7, 8 or 9 styled body kits still look like lancers!

+1 for that. Are lancers wide body? I do not think that the lancers look anything like the evos. Just as my Evo dose not look like a Mirage I really like the Evo with and without a wing. Some look good others don't. I think if your car is stock, Suspension, wheels, and body then leave the wing on, but if it has been lowered with different wheels then some look good wingless.
