Let me know how it works out because your fairly close to me and I'm thinking about getting the JDM bumper eventually.
A little update on the situation for those of you interested..
I've left it in the hands of the men who did the body work on the Buschur Magnum Time Attack car... and now i'm waiting for the Insurance adjuster to look at it on monday..
for the full story.. and to know what happens without having to find this tread later grab the RSS feed on the site in my sig..

There is no reduction in crash safety as the part you talke out is not a crumple zone and the beam is actually stronger in terms of mounting to the car one you are done.
THe only thing you give up is resistance to low impact dumps. If you got tapped at a few MPH with thew stock bumper, it would live. If the Same thing happens with the JDM bumper and modded crash beam, the car would be fine but the bumper cover would be trashed. This is because there is no foam insert to retain the shap of the bumper cover in a low speed impact so it will just deform.
Person - Did it come with the seats?
Me - Yes it came with it
Person - Brakes?
Me - Yes
Person - Wheels?
Me - Yup
You get the point
yeah that sucks... i too recently just got hit by some drunk guy. my whole bumper is marked up on the right side. and theres a chip off my paint right above my tail light. Also my exhaust is junk now. i can't decide if i should get the jdm evo9 bumper because i dont know if it would look ok with the greddy ti-c exhaust i am ordering.

I have the crash beam on mine and it is simple. You drill the welds out of a half inch bracket that holds the crash beam to the mounting ear that bolts to the car. You then grind the back of the crash beam flat so it bolts directly to the mounting ears, weld, and put it all back on.
