This evo won't run you 15k. Even if you buy for 10k.

I have nothing against salvage title cars (had 5 of them). You have to be very, very careful when you chose a salvage title car. Make sure frame is ok. This evo doesn't seem ok.

It's good to buy salvage title car for racing (again with slight damage). Sometimes you will hit a fander and the car will be salvage, so salvage can be a good and a bad thing.

My .02 - stay away from this evo and buy the one with less damage

Not only will it never drive the same afterwards, but you are very likely to have electrical/wiring issues for the life of the car due to wire bundles being pinched/crimped when it was wrecked. They will most likely be hard to pinpoint too because alot of the issues are going to be intermittent.

If you can do the work yourself it is worth it b/c you know what was fixed and if it was properly fixed. If you're going to trust a second party to fix it then I'd stay away, especially a car that you are probably in it's life time going to drive it like a moron a couple of times. A salvaged title car CAN be just as good as an original, problem is with body shops doing minamal work to get it to pass inspection alot is overlooked and covered up. Plus if you take good enough pictures of damage, pictures and recipts of repairs you can make alot of money in salvaged cars. Buy a car for 10k fix it yourself, drive it for 3 or 4 years and turn around and sell it for what you paid for it or a little more and you basically have a nicer car then you could normally afford and it only costs you a little time.

Do you have any idea how expensive Evo parts are? I had an old SRT-4 like yours prior. Lemme tell ya, there is a whopping difference between the two - night and day. We're not talking about basic commuter cars that will get you from one place to another. We're talking about Evos.

Still not convinced?

Take the salvage concept and apply it to individual parts. What's the most important part of any car? The chassis, right? The Evo's chassis is a uni-body. Do you want the most important part of your car to be compromised? That uni-body in that USDM MR is compromised.

No, who cares what it's been through, right? After all, it doesn't look that bad. Yeah, right.

Stop kidding yourself. Listen to us. We're trying to save you from making a monumental mistake.

Oh, yeah. That car was t-boned, also. Are you aware that Evos suck *** in side impact crashes? The uni-body is definitely out of whack.

Also never buy a wrecked car without seeing it in person and having someone with you who knows how bad it is. My buddy bought a SRT-4 off ebay without going to look at it and it was way more a project then he expected. But it was fixed just took way longer.

To be safe I'd try and find a high mileage Evo that costs less due to the mileage. That way you know it hasn't been in an accident but you're still paying a lower price. Parts can always be replaced as they wear out

There is a reason the insurance totaled this car... Even if it only looks like superficial damage, I will bet that the repair shop measured the unibody and found that it was off beyond financial repair.

This being said, you're not going to fix a twisted unibody with hand-tools on the weekend. If they totaled it, it will need serious unibody repair.

These cars were built to handle extremely well. I just don't see that one ever being completely right again...AND that could be very dangerous in the corners. Buy clean...my.02

Buy it Clean, whenever you want to sell it you'll lose so much people when you tell them it's a salvage title. Also just pick up an 03/04 Evo for 19-21K and Just put an FP Green Turbo upgrade. Also go 5 speed.
