salvage or clean?
I think that you still have to get full coverage as far as insurance but if the car gets wrecked again, your insurance will not pay for the full KBB because it is a salvage title already.
Just look at it in person, see if there is any frame damage. (If you can) and if ther is no frame damage then I would buy it. I bought a truck 2 years ago from a friend that hit a deer that was salvaged and put 2k into it to fix it up. Did a lift kit wheels, tires, Custom paint and sound system another 5k. Drove it for just over a year and sold it for 2k more that I was into it. I got a rebuilt title for it and it ran and drove fine. Not one problim with it. But that was mainly because the frame was not bent in any way. If the frame is fine and it's mainly cosmetic damage then I would get it. but thats just me and I do all my own work so I save even more.

If you wanna start cutting corners with paying for a car by pickin up one with a salvage title, don't do it with an evo. You will not be happy with the car. It will always be tainted and will be a nightmare for you. Expect it to be that car that, as soon as you fix something, something else goes wrong.
isn't the reason why it's title Salvage is because it was beyond reasonable repair by an insurance company or another? but then again i see salvage cars that were just under water up to the kick panels with no engine damage so they're cleaned up and resold.
same reason why a car is deemed "total loss"
my car was deemed total loss and they said it would cost $16k to repair... you can see pic in my sig
