Absolutely interested in the undertray. I've got your I/C and have had my tray off since I bought it.

I would deff. be down for an easy to remove & smooth front undertray. And if you are making them a rear undertray with a diffuser built in wouldn't be bad either...

A smooth, easy to remove undertray would be awesome. Mine looks like hell, and removing it is my single least favorite Evo task. Also, it would be great to have an undertray that's designed to accomodate larger Buschur intercoolers; I don't have one yet, but that time will come. Were you planning on having it stretch further back than the stock one? I'd also be interested in a rear undertray or any other parts you come up with to reduce drag.

I didn't think about the difference in the EVO9 front fascia. I will have to get one in the shop to check it on. If it doesn't fit I can make a simple template to make them, no problem.

Tonight I got the material home and cut the first one from the pattern I made yesterday. So far it looks extremely promising. The material is very nice too work with, I have to weigh the tray when it is done.

Tomorrow I am going to cut the hole for the dumptube, bring home some of the factory plastic screws for attaching near the inner wheel wells. I also realize that the downpipes are hot as hell. So I will install some DEI floor and tunnel shield on it, which should handle the heat and keep it from being damaged.

I'll tell you, it looks freaking good.

Now, I do not run the lower tie bars on my car, so someone asked if it is longer than stock. The answer is yes, I am using front tie bar bolt holes to hold it up in the rear. I would imagine the stock tie bar can be taken off, install the undertray and then put the tie bar back on, it would actually be a ton of support in the rear for the undertray.

I also got the material to make the wicker bills under the car infront of the tires, looks like it is going to work out well too. I think I can make some "ducting" to channel air to the brake "duct" that some of the EVO's have too.

As much as I have complained and hated undertrays in the past I am pretty excited about this project.

I am just hoping to gain some MPH from the underside of the car being smoother, that is my personal sole purpose of all this!

I am in for sure... you know that.

I HATED the idea of removing mine and thinking of all that air going up there.

We need something like the new Zo6's and Ferrari's with all smooth underbodys.

We need a real rear diffuser that fit USDM VIII bumper. So far only vinshu did one that work, but to bad it only fit their exhaust.

Dave, your car has to be one of my most favorite and most understated Evo 8 street cars. Solid 9's on 17" raidals at almost 150 mph with a full interior and a flip out dvd player. It would be sick to see it hit 150 mph. You should offer those with Medina Mitsu. Call it the RFQ 700+ (Realy ****in' quick, 700 hp)

If your under tray would include an air dam underneath it, similar to the one below to divert additional air away from under the under tray, that would be way cool. The only down side is that you can not create a splitter out of it like APR's under tray.

The nice thing about the air dam below is that is sits further back from the front of the car, so you can use it on the street without scraping. This Air Dam is only 3.5" above the ground and it rarely scrapes. It's made out of PVC plastic and on those rare occasions when it does scrape, its flexible enough to avoid damage. This air dam attaches the little vertical strip where the stock undertray attaches to the front bumper. If you could attach your under tray a little further back, maybe another 0.5" back, it wouldn't scrape at all.

Also, maybe you could incorporate narrow rectangular air ducts to feed the front brakes!

Maybe you can improve on this idea.... incorporating an air dam and side skirts into an aero combo.

I did this as a concept. The fit and finish was not good enough to keep on the car. If it was boxed in to show some thinkness, it would be much better. It attaches to the stock screw locations.

By the way... it works. You can definately feel it a speed.

i like the airdam and brake duct ideas. Something simple to attach and cheaper than Beatrush, etc. would sell like crazy.
