Aero work, undertrays and misc looking for opinions
.... traction costs horsepower. if any of the evos are actually experiencing traction problems at 160 i'd be interested to see how much they look like a funny car and how unlikely that is.
if that is the case they can put the wing back on... i hope you realise this last comment shows that you're wrong.

trinydex, I couldn't really disagree more with you on this than I do right now. Adding down force doesn't make sense on a 1,000 hp car that is trying to accelerate as quickly as possible? You should have seen our car run down the track a month ago and then seen it last week. Two completely different looking passes. The aero is needed and some addtional downforce definetely helped too. It always has. Why do you think they put that absolutely HUGE wing on a top fuel car? Most fast drag stuff has some sort of wing, splitters etc.
well if you say so...
i think there's a huge wing on a top fuel car because it's making like 40,000hp. they have serious traction problems
and i wouldn't disagree with wings and splitters becuase those divide air to get your downforce. wings do have some extra cross sectional area and so to dive plates but the air moves around them or rather through them.
but diverting air with air dams _under_ the car... that's extra cross sectional area that your car will have to push through in ADDITION to the downforce friction made at the tires... i guess what i am saying is that dams have air move into them and around them. that's 100% use of cross section, whereas with wings and other spoilers you are turning the air with a large percentage of the surface but the cross section is not as large... fractional area.
this is a good and clean looking solution for 90% of the people with evos. but for your competition drag car... if you ever get to the point where you need to split hairs, i'd say take away the little spats, but it's up to you.
good piece for everyone else though. just don't know about for drag racing.... if you say it benefits you on the strip then that's good.

By spats are you talking about the little "wickers" I put in front of the tires?
Our black car went from being completely out of shape and very hard to control to running absolutely perfectly straight with the changes we made. From the time it went from out of control to dead straight we added the front undertray and the new rear wing to the car.

Yes, trinydex, we were having major traction issues. The car was all over the track. Daniel told me to put power steering back on the car or he was done driving it. After this work we did he made the 8.88 pass and didn't even pull the parachute, didn't think he had gone fast enough to need it.
A little bit of aero work on this car has made a huge difference. Hoping the work we are doing right now is going to make even more, just not in the aero department

I'd order one today if you could guarantee that it would work with a variety of mufflers. No prob if a bit of cutting/modding is required at my end as long as the structural integrity and functionality of the tray is maintained. I know that's the hard part, but that's the key to the rear bumper tray.
Every rear diffuser we build (rear undertray) will have to be cut if you have any exhaust except for the one pictured on my RS. I think the structural portion of it will be fine. It is going to require an additional bracket that we'll include.
I am another person interested in buying one. To the horror of many fellow Evo owners, not only is my Evo my DD, but I also drive it snowboarding and occasionally on dirt roads. Last winter the "ice-rails" in town here smashed my stock plastic undertray to pieces. Since then I have been on the fence about replacing the stock one, buying an aftermarket one, or building my own.
I think this unit ends that dilemma. Thanks DB, you're just in time again.
Things just keep getting better for Evo owners these days regarding aftermarket parts pricing and availability

Good news. Finally, we are cutting today. The first 5 fronts and 4 rears will be leaving to the guys that ordered them no later than tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, there was a mix up when they shipped us material.
Thank you for the orders.
