What ECU mod is this? (PICS)

Hey guys. Sorry for being new and I have spent the last week going through my latest evo purchase. When I was cleaning the car I noticed this wire harness that was under the dash that had been spliced into the factory harness.

What is it? What do the purpose of the wires coming off from the harness tapped into the ECU harness serve? Thanks for any help.

Really interesting..

Its hooked into by the looks:

- Fuel pressure solenoid it cuts then reconnects after probably some modification by a device
- Turbo wastegate (reading)
- Some power source (backup or switched probably)

Based on these findings I'm leaning toward fuel controller.

Its all tied to that harness. So the wires are sort of recirculating. I know that all week long I have been trying to diagnose the problem reguarding my fuel guage not reading correctly.

Really weird. If you look on the harness pin connector, there are 2 white wires that come from the female end, and one wire connects to the male end, while the other wire connects to the harness side of the white/red wire.

That "white/red" wire btw appears to be the fuel pressure solenoid thus my argument it was related to a fuel controller. I believe that harness just has a loop connecting the white/red wire back into its origional position with the device removed.

Yeah it was a nasty soldering job but I ended up cutting it out. Took the car out and I didn't feel a difference and my car only has a downpips/catback and intake.

I just wanted to make sure it was not something significant to mess with. Thanks for the help guys.

I was lucky enough to have my DEFIs stolen. The only good thing is that I used vanpire clips so taking out the old wires was pretty easy.

Those are the worst thing you can ever put in your car.

All they do is cut the strands of wires effectively making each wire a smaller gauge.

Soon enough your clips will stop working and you will have carbon build up on those connections. Carbon is not conductive and your **** will stop working as a result of that.

Looks like a fuel controller was wired into the ECU and anyone that uses a SAFC on a evo is an idiot which means your EVO has been rapped by the previous owner and who else knows what he did to that poor car. More than likley he had a intake and the loudest BOV he could buy, I would look for neons under the car.

Looked for the neons already So far the car is strong and in one peice. The original owner who did god knows what to it, had it garaged at least and overall it is i good shape. From what i have gathered it did have a turbo timer in it but it was stolen because the control box for it was still there.

It had a downpipe, 02 housing, and a Koyo radiator when i bought it. Shifts fine and the clutch is operating fine. However the car has 31k miles on it and I do not know whether the clutch had been replaced.

No dings in the body and two chips on the entire car so it couldnt have been ravaged too harshley. But yeah the ecu hackjob looked like it was done by a drunken domestic mechanic. You guys are giving my car a complex!
