stock ecu piggy back or stand alone

ok im a retard and search doesnt always work well for me.....

i have a Exede W/smart (hard to tune and far away tuners) i was noticing some cool fetures on ecu flash and some nice numbers on stock ecu's. my question is what is better and easier to tune?

i was thinking of autronic (sp) but if i can dump off the exede and just ecu flash with the same HP im running now ill do it. i like to use some of the options like rev limit(valet mode) and maybe check out tuning myself.

also what system other than my exede can run two maps with the switch of a button.

and another random Q' is nitrus a bad thing. im running meth now and its about 70 HP on my 330hp but with a shot of nitrus i could yeld a 75-100 hp gain.

thanks guys. oh and again i hat the search feature on most of these boards i can never find ****.

Listen...if you're making 330 whp then you have no need for a piggy back or a stand alone. The stock ECU can easily be manipulated for such basic mods. Obviously, if you spend the extra $2000 for an AEM EMS with a wideband, then you will yield a better result than just flashing the ECU. However, the difference would be very minute with such mods only making 330 whp. There are plenty of guys who are making 500 whp with the stock ECU. People are finding out new limitations of the the stock ECU everyday. It is very capable. If you plan on exceeding 500 whp any time soon, then yeah you may want to go with a stand alone. Piggy backs suck anyway.

Yes, in general, nitrous is a bad thing. I know that it can be set up properly and whatever so that it runs safely, but it's stupid and pointless when you factor in the safety level and life of the engine. If you're running a 42R turbo then it would make sense if you wanted to spool the turbo faster. Other then that, it's dumb. Running nitrous on a car with you're power is not smart. Build up the motor first if you insist on doing it.

Just get a flash for your normal street tune with meth and then get a separate tune for race gas. You can run the car with much higher boost while still being safe due to the increased octane level in the fuel. You can do that without running into any knock issues.

I already run a exede piggyback with smart. wideband too just wondering if it would be better to run stock reflash or leave it. main reason is tuning if i want a K&N filter then i have to go to a exede tuner in tenn. and thats not close(but its the closest)

with ecu flash i think more places would be able to help me out bushur ans ams are the closest shops i would take my car.

Yes, it is better to just ditch the exede and sell it to someone else for whatever you can get for it. Again, just stick with Ecuflash until you hit really big numbers and exceed the capabilities of the stock MAF. You won't have to travel anywhere to get this done. You just take a tactrix cable along with a laptop and download Evoscan and Ecuflash. You will then take a log of your car and e-mail it to any reputable vendor (with a list of your current mods) that will tune it for you and e-mail the new log back to you. You just upload it and that's it.

I have only heard great things about Mellon tuning, by the way. I have checked out his sight many times and the price can't be beat. They will continuously work with you until the tune is as perfect as possible. The same can be said for Jestr Tuning, TTP, Dynoflash, etc...

Leave that in there. It's actually necessary to optimize the tune. If you were to tune the car on the dyno, they hook your car up to a wideband so that they can accurately read your a/f ratio. If you already have it in there, then there is no reason to take that out. Just ditch the exede...that thing is a little less than totally useless.
