a little hard to shift

I just finished the fluid changes that I needed to do at 45000 miles. Everything went fine and I used Redline mt-90 in the 5spd tranny. I'm positive I used the correct amount but it seems like it's a little harder to shift when it's cold. Particularly 1st to 2nd and into reverse. Anyone else had this experience after switching to mt90?

How cold is it over there? I heard the same thing about using straight MT 90. I personally started using straight MT90 myself and at 55 degrees F, it shifted just fine. Shep even recommends MT90 in his website.

Ouch! You should ONLY use OEM fluids, just pray that the death whine doesnt start. You should stop drving the car NOW! and change out the fluids ASAP. good Luck!

I would agree that OEM fluids should only be used in the transfercase which is where the death whine is. We are talking about the tranny which does work well with other fluids besides OEM. Like I said if the shep the master transmission builder recommends it I think its ok. BTW I believe the OEM tranny fluid would be SUPER DIAQUEEN.

You obviously didn't read my whole post. Where did I say that I put mt90 in my transfer case??? I specifically mentioned the 5SPD... alot of people have used mt90 in their 5spd trannies. I used Diaqueen lsd oil in the transfer case and rear diff.

I use MT-90 and the past couple of mornings(40-50 degrees)I had to let the car warm up a little longer to get a smooth shift. I wouldn't worry about it. Just let it warm up before driving.

Forget it no reason to be rude, I really dont understand peoples problems on this forum are. Being a Newbie that is the last thing I was expecting to hear someone bark at me! Good luck anyways. I have read nothing but VERY bad things about putting anything but OEM fluids in ANYWHERE on the Evo. So i was simply saying Good luck and not being sarcastic. No reason to jump down my throat!

redline mt-90 is absolutely perfect for the tranny, shep even recommends it. thats the only draw back with the MT-90 its a little tough to shift when cold.. once it warms up its good to go
