Norris Evo Time Attack crashes (In car Vid)
The violence with which his helmet shakes during that roll is disturbing. I was absolutely amazed that he had his wits about him to so quickly release the harnesses and climb out. I'm just sitting here watching it on my laptop and I was more stunned than he was.

HANS wouldn't have stopped his head from shaking that violently, HANS is designed to keep your head from tilting forward and causing a base of skull fracture, it still will allow for quite a bit of side to side motion.
actually his head didn't move around that much in that crash, but yes it will hurt over the next few weeks.
of the three cars that took that line, the first few did well by early apexing. this driver followed their line, but their line was blocked by the time he got there. If he had late apexed the corner he could have avoided the accident and maybe picked up a position.
Of course this is all monday TV racing... so it's worthless to say what he should have done... woulda coulda shoulda.

Do you own a HANS? A hans severely restricts your left/right movement as the straps that connect to the side of the helmet only allow your head to move so far forward, because of this you can only twist 30 or so degrees left or right.
If he was wearing one his head A. wouldnt of moved so far forward and B. wouldnt of shook as violently or far side to side.
The Downward parts of the hans that come down over your chest sit under your belts and really keep you pretty restricted in terms of movement.

Wow,
Glad everyone is O.K.
First time I watched it, I did not see the hatch until corner exit, Second time I saw it as they pulled onto the straight. Really underscores why they always preach "Look ahead" at driving schools.
