I just bought a used Evo 9 MR yesterday, and the backlight on the three gauges on the center console (boost, voltage, etc) is stuck on. The headlamps and interior overhead lights are off, but for some reason this backlight won't go off. I went to drive the car to work this morning and noticed it...

Any ideas?

 

Thats strange, blown fuse somewhere?

 

Not sure, but I would have expected a blown fuse to result in the light never coming on, not for it to stay on. I'm no electrician though, so I could be wrong. I also noticed that the parking light on the front drivers side is out as well, but I am sure these two issues are unrelated.

I will check the fuses tonight though.

 

I say take a look at the wiring. Maybe the previous owner wired the gauges to the constant power line. Do the gauges get dimmer when you have your lights on?

 

Turns out the previous owner wired the gauges into the aftermarket stereo system he put in, so the lights stayed on - exactly as Roldy said. I disconnected the ground for the gauges and now no lights at all, but better than a constant drain on my battery!
