Strange problem with my A/F Gauge

I haven't really cared enough to post the problem about it, but lately it's just annoying me

The lean/stoich/rich lights light up, but the actual backlighting for it doesn't. I have both my boost gauge and that wired to the fuse for the instrument cluster and previously had them attached on the ecu.

Could the bulb be dead? Can I change it?

Is it the auto meter type? If so I belive that they don't light up, if you look at the back of the gauge there is no bulb. Hope this helps.

yep, autometer.

That's kind of retarded. Why the hell would they make that one not light up? It's not like you wouldn't be able to see the a/f lights

Autometer is kind of cheap, they probably wanted to keep the cost down. That gauge is not acurate anyway, if you want a real a/f reading buy a wide band o2 sensor, that is the only way to properly tune your car.

hehe.. the autometer A/F gauge doesn't have backlighting.. If you think about it, it uses LED's, its kind of pointless to backlight it for visibility at night (other than to make it look consistent with the other gauges)

There is a bad thing about the "Stock" type A/F gauges, their calibrated differently than what is best for tuning WOT.. Even worse news, 1v (Stock O2 sensor voltages) aren't accurate enough to use for more than a rough estimate of mixture.. so its really just for show.

Before I get flamed, I actually do rough tune my car with the A/F gauge I have installed.. But its calibrated from .65 - .99 volts which is the WOT range most useful for tuning. Its just not accurate enough to rely on. so be careful.

I would swap out the A/F gauge for a Oil Pressure gauge if you don't have one.. Its a better investment in engine longevity.. Pick up a www.dawesdevices.com calibrated A/F indicator and put it somewhere inconspicuous..

I use the Autometer Pro-Comp (or Sport Comp) black face series gauges I realize its old school, but the silver trim with the black face matches the interior scheme of the car.. PLUS if you put the red bulb condom (LOL) on the bulb, the color is EXACTLY The same at night as the factory dash lighting.

Yeah, I don't use it for tuning. I more or less reference to it every once in a while and i'm actually looking at a wideband right now
