OK... here's a new problem with my Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge. I returned the gauge because it had the white wire missing(dash light). Got the new gauge and installed it. Gauge lights up! Looks great!, but I then noticed that the LEDs don't work...
I turned off my car and removed my keys and turned on the dash lights, sure enough the LEDs work with the backlighting on the gauge. But when I start up the car, the LEDs dissapear. If I remove the dash light wire(white wire), the gauge works fine and when I hook it back up light works, but gauge doesn't... what the hell??
So to make things short...
When car is started...
Backlight works and looks pretty.
LED is only on when dash light is off.
LED is off when dash light is on.
When car is off with keys out of ignition and dash lights are turned on...
Both LED and backlight works.
Plz help!!

What do you mean by "the backlight doesn't work?"
Are you talking about the black area? Or the blue lettering?
Because if you mean the black area, then that doesn't light up.
It's just the colored lights that light up. And the blue lettering.

I hooked it up to the head unit at first, but the back wouldn't light up. I know the black part doesn't light up, but there is no light coming from it except from the led that monitor the sensor.

It only has 3 wires. It has the Power wire, Ground wire, and the Sensor wire. I tried many different ground locations and many different power sources (Head Unit, Ignition, Cig lighter, etc.). I emailed autometer, but they have yet to email me back. It's getting power and the sensor wire works because the gauge reads lean at first and then after about 15 minutes of the car running it rised up to stoich and a little under rich. I can't figure it out...
15 minutes is way too long to still be reading lean after start-up. It should start to cycle after 30 seconds to a minute.
Are you sure you tapped into the right o2 sensor wire?... You have to tap into the first o2 sensor, the one before the cat. You should re-check your ecu shematics.
Also there are no lights in the gauge other then the LEDs.

I live in chicago and the weather sucks... it takes a while for my engine to heat up and get a correct reading. I spliced the sensor wire into pin #76 in the ECU. And the words on the gauge are supposed to light up so you can read it and not stay black.
