What did he say he pulled you over for? He can't just say, your intake sounds loud, let me take a look at that. I thought they had to have a very good reason to inspect your engine.

 

Wisconsin? Is that a state? Joking! Its not hard to see why Cali is so hard on car people. There is a huge car culture on the west coast. I guess fast cars are such a popular thing there that the man has decided to intervene.

 

I gaurantee you dont see them pulling over a Ferrari or Lambo and asking to look under the hood.

I would actually refuse to open the hood and claim they have no probable cause to do an illegal search of my property.

 

Just take the carb sticker off a carb legal intake and put it on yours. Bing bam done.

Yeah sucks to say it but basically if he has probable cause to believe your car is modded he can search it.

9 out of 10 they usually look for the bling, now if you refuse to open your hood they will tow your car and then it will be worse.

So leason to be learned be nice to the cop, tell him I didnt know it was illegal and I will replace it right away.

Another thing that will save you is if you have a clean record...ie. no speeding tickets, failure to follow signals...etc

Oh and one last thing if you are military and have your car registered in your home of state-FLORIDA they wont harass you at ALL!!!Hellooooo SIR, i just served my country for the second time the last thing i need is a ticket, what a welcome home present!!! Yeah I got off with a warning. That was in my Rx7!!!!!!

 

Whats "probable cause" to you being modded. That sounds like total BS to me, its basically a search warrant. They cant just pull over your car for looks and tell you they have reason to believe you have modded parts, thats straight illegal. Just like you cant follow someone home to the ghetto and be like, you're in the ghetto we assume you have drugs we have a warrant to search your house. Doesnt work that way. Although I don't know the laws and how to handle it appropriately, I would be shocked to hear that a judge would say that a cop can simply walk up to car by looks and say "I think your car is modded, I need to examine your engine bay".

I'm from California, born and raised here, its my home. I was one of thousands of car people that fought the smog checks when they were first proprosed. Its federal law, your all covered by it. Any cop in the country can write you a ticket for no cat, its their job.

But here the cops don't do their job, they make the people do it for them. Every system of regulation whether it be guns, off-roading, boating, cars, hunting, you name it, all depend on you coming to them and admitting your quilt through some form of paper work or test or inspection.

They think driving is a privalege here, extended from them to us like they are some form of gods! Do they stop the car culture from doing what we want, hell no! Will we run away like little *****es that can't take the heat, never! We will continue to build fast cars in our shop for as long as I am alive. I only hope my children continue their interest in cars and never give in to the **** ******s that have ruined our state.

Those of us that are natives like to say we live behind the lines in occupied California. But we will not leave, we will continue to fight for the ground we love so much. Its a beautiful place with so much to do and so many good people, there is no place else I would rather live.
