Tuning effect by using exhaust cutout?
I comtemplating on the QTP exhaust cutout on my car. However, as we all know, everything you do has an effect on the performance. Although the cutout is suppose to add power, I hope you tuning gurus can explain any effects it may have on the tuning. Would I have to move the O2 further up the dp to get more accurate readings. I want power, but I also want to run safely. No point in power if the car doesn't move!
I've heard 20-30 WHP, but the common/legal route is to install a TBE. If you like the smell of fuel, and something loud, just put in a test pipe. Still, an electric cut-out is a cool idea. I'd like to hear from someone who has it.
I had a QTP DP with Ecut. My car had a stock exhaust with a hollow cat. It was tuned with the Ecut open. When I closed the Ecut, I lost 20whp. Last month, I was racing my car @ the Evo shootout, and I need to have an exhaust on my car. So I put a Magnaflow Ti exhaust system on my car. With the Ecut closed, I lost 5whp with that set up. And as far as the 2nd O2 go, it is still at the stock location, never have a problem with that. Hope this help.
