well since i havent pulled it apart yet i can not be 100% sure but my guess is
1-camgear moved advancing timing 2-piston hit exhaust valve which cracked piston 3- piston seized up and rod broke 4- crank is now sticking out the front of the motor!

I was wrong!! this morning goin about 75 on the highway just cruising along i heard all kinds of noise and a bunch of smoke and oil started shooting everywhere! I drifted off the side of the road and knew what prob. happened before i popped the hood. When i opened the hood there was oil everywhere and right in the front of the block there was a huge hole! i checked the exhaust cam gear and just as i thought it was 12 degress advanced!! im pretty mad not just at the crappy Pro Street bolts but at myself... I knew i should have swapped them out but theres nothing to do now but get a new motor....

Did you take pics?

very true... and since the torque specs for the cam gears are in inch lbs... i doubt you undertightened them.... hell, i always feel that the proper torque spec is just not enough half the time... .but what can you do

Also, I know that a 9 motor wont fit directly in but does any one know if any year evo 8 will bolt directly in? ex. 2004 or 2005. Thanks
