Blew a huge hole in motor!!
Well the slipping cam gear would of not blown a whole in your motor it would of just bent all your valves. More than likley your engine blew and peices of block and pistons went up and slammed into your valves with enought force to make the cam gear slip. I would look into your blown motor from somewhere else.
1-camgear moved advancing timing 2-piston hit exhaust valve which cracked piston 3- piston seized up and rod broke 4- crank is now sticking out the front of the motor!
Well i installed crower 272's and Pro Street adjustable cam gears about 3 months ago... when i installed the gears i noticed the crappy button head allen bolts they give you werent able to be torqued down a whole lot. I figured they were tight enough and there were enough of them not to move..... I was wrong!! this morning goin about 75 on the highway just cruising along i heard all kinds of noise and a bunch of smoke and oil started shooting everywhere! I drifted off the side of the road and knew what prob. happened before i popped the hood. When i opened the hood there was oil everywhere and right in the front of the block there was a huge hole! i checked the exhaust cam gear and just as i thought it was 12 degress advanced!! im pretty mad not just at the crappy Pro Street bolts but at myself... I knew i should have swapped them out but theres nothing to do now but get a new motor....
Did you take pics?
