some one already dropped in a ix into an viii. also you don't need a new engine u can always rebuild it new block, have the head repaired, etc...

i was referring to a new short block and repairing my head. I didnt think a 8 head would go on a 9 shortblock?

yeah i was thinking about just getting a new block.. but if i can find a full motor for a good price id just rather drop it in

In order to put in a IX engine you have to change the ECU and wiring harness. An VIII block and IV head won't work together. You have to go one way or the other. I would stick with the VIII engine.
