CF Hood Install - Street Concept - Bad Hood
CF Hood Install - Street Concept - Bad Hood
Well since streetconcept screwed me with my hood...I am stuck with a hood that was supposed to be 100% bolt on with no modifications. Well, when the hood showed up, there were serious gaps around the grill of the hood and the holes for the washer nozzles were not cut out. I have had this hood for a while and I have not installed it yet because I was expecting street concept to take it back and refund me, but like I said, they have VERY VERY POOR customer service
. Anyways, I need to drill out the holes for the nozzles. Looking at the hood, you can def see where the holes are supposed to be, it just looks like they forgot to cut them out. How do I do this without ruining the hood?
Thanks in advance for your help

yeah i was also very cautious about streetconcepts... if u look at the site they claim their line is so "bolt on and perfect" to oem standards but it looked really trumped up claims when its so dirt cheap.
Yes, use a dremel, and put tape on the CF so it won't chip/fray! Drill a hole in it using a drill first to make the hole, go from small to larger and larger.. and finish off with a dremel.
Most hoods come with the nozzles NOT cut out, as all use pimp stylers don't need 'em. Actually it used to be very common to have them not cut out. However, if it specifically says it will be cut out.... then it should be!
Good luck, I've always hated the fit of any CF hood, it's never perfect... obviously some are much much worse than others.

masking/painters tape both sides where you are drilling. get a brand new step-bit. so you can carry the hole up the the minimum size you need all at once. step also has much more of and "edge" to cut the weave with. more so than a regular bit or rotary file. once the hole is drilled, use a stone on a dremel. takes longer but will not fray/chip the carbon/clearcoat. cut the shape a little small, the carbon will flex slightly when you install whatever it is you need, then flex back and hold it. make sure to try and use some kind of rubber grommet between the piece you're installing and the hood. it distributes the weight as much as anything else, prevents you from cracking your clear. good luck, put some pics up when done.

I had a similar problem with my seibon. The holes were there, just not big enough for thr washers to fit. I gently took a rat tail file and filed it bigger by hand, as to not take too much off. I'd file it a little and test it. File a little and test it. of course, youll have to drill the hole first. But, yeah, mine came out greeat.
