Evo X hood scoop.

What's the hood scoop for? I hope that the hood scoop isn't there just for looks. That's a mustang/ricer thing. It really bugs me to see something on an Evo that doesn't add to performance. You don't see faux air intakes on BMW's do you? That's why they have a class and refinement that most everybody respects and admires. (Bangle or no Bangle)

Hood scoop? What hood scoop? Do you mean the Evo or the STI?!
Hood air vent? The IX had it too.

The only one smack dead center of the hood... not the vents. A scoop/intake is very different than a vent. (mrdecibel... nice car by the way, congrats. I hope you don't mind me using your pic as an example)

I would imagine to get some airflow across the back of the motor where the manifold and turbo. Since I would think based on the pictures of the engine bay, it could get really hot back there pretty easily with no air movement.

Maybe there is some kind of covert top mount intercooler back there that we can't see.

*sigh* There's plenty of information from a long time back that says exactly what the NACA duct (it's not a hood scoop) on the hood does.

But for the sake of getting this over with, it directs air on to the turbo for cooling purposes.

If I'm not mistaken, it used to direct air to the turbo which is rear mounted.

Yup, since the new 4B11 has it's turbo in the back ...it directs air right into the turbo

It is an ugly, old, slow contraption. At least it's faster than a Huey.

I just remembered something about my old BMW M Coupe... it had fake vents that looked as if they vented hot air from the engine bay. Pure cosmetic jewelry that ricers try to put on their civics (Z3 vents). I need to go pull my boot out of my mouth now.... and then put some Cope in instead

The one near the winshield cools the turbo. the two in the front release heat just like the old evo. the side ones behind the front tires also release hot air from the engine bay. they are all functional.
