Exactly right. It's to get air directly to the Turbo.

So let me get this straight... it's to get air to the turbo? OMG, 8 times! Raise your post count at any cost!

It sort of seems like the traditional-evo heat releasing vent should be back there. I suppose the vents (2) up front just let heat out of the engine bay, and not heat from the manifold specifically.

This Evo's ducts, as well as previous Evo's, look sweet, especially when compared to the STi's. I never liked the scoops sticking above the hood (on the old ones) & now it looks like a gaping hole.

I hope the X hood vents dont leave your turbo manifold rusted like the 8 and 9 does.

Unfortunately.... the two vents at the front are mostly blocked off. The one on the driver's side is half blocked while the one on the passenger side is completely blocked.

And the one in the middle does direct cooling air to the backside of the motor. If you look at the heat shielding over the manifold/turbo, there's actually two holes in it that allow the cooling air to get to the turbo/manifold, and a 'wall' thing on the heat shield that directs the air from the hood to the holes in the heat shield.
