Evolution VIII chit-chat
This whole "States getting Evolution VIII" deal going around the internet... this whole 6-speed, mechanical diff., big round foglites sounds kool... does anyone remember for the past Evo's when did their spy shots come out and all? The VII has been out for two years (J-market) and seems like usual timing for a new Evo.. probability? and how long does it take tuning companies to come out with products if a new Evo is to be released?
I'm a newbie Evo fan so i dun have much knowledge on how Mitsu comes around releasing new Evos and all.. like do they talk about while in R&D or do they just land the cars in showrooms?

so.... chances are good that Evo VIII's gonna be out soon? atleast in the j-market? i guess my question is when mitsubishi makes it common knowledge that a new Evo is due out based on past releases?
I was at my local Walgreens store this weekend and picked up the Automobile magazine while I was waiting for the wife. Anyways, it had an article named "16 cars worth waiting for." The evo was one of them and it said that it was probably going to be the Evo VIII. It also had a drawing of it and it looked even better IMO. There was also another article in the same mag comparing the EVO and the STI, it was a good article. The EVO beat the STI in every category they tested thim in. Once again, it was the "Automobile" magazing. Check it out it, you'll like the articles.

What the heck are you talking about? New Evo, better advancements, probably more Hp. What are you complaining about? The Evo 8 is going to be great. It even rhymes!!!

i remember some of the specs about it
they said they were improving the gear box because there were some problems in 2nd gear. they also increase the things 0-60 time to 4.8 seconds, which i believe that the last ones time was 5.0 seconds... Im not sure if there is a fly wheel in the older ones but i think they were talking about a fly wheel being in this one. The last one was just adding a 6th gear to improve the acceleration and get up to speed quicker as well as help with fuel consumption.
i put a deposit on an evo about 8 weeks ago with my dealer.he will sell it to me for msrp.i spoke to mitsu in ca about 4 weeks ago, higher level mgmt they said flat out no evo 7 .it will be an evo 8.they declined on the specs.
OK guys, i'm gonna type word for word on the article from the May issue of the Automobile magazine.
"Many Mitsubishi models are sleepers, but the Lancer Evolution is a true phenomenon: a compact, all-wheel-drive, turbocharged master-blaster. And although the latest edition, the Evo VII will come to America in a year or so (see page 48), in Japan, Mitsubishi has already signed off on the Evo VIII. The company is planning a Japanese-market debut in late 2003, Since the Evo VIII is a king of freshening, bringing sharper, rally-inspired styling with new headlights, improved engine cooling, a recalibrated suspension, and the possibility of a jump to a six-speed transmission to match its rival, the Subaru Impreza WRX Sti. Right now, the Evo VII produces 276 horsepower and 283 pund-feet of torque in Japanese domestic tune. Mitsubishi is still bound by Japan's self-imposed power cap, but torque could easily hit the 290-pound-feet mark, making the Evo VIII's accelerative abilities even more staggering thean the current car's."
Ohh and Otaking, I actually like the drawing's looks better than the VII. IMO, it actually looks a little meaner than the VII.
