Need help in choosing some Mods

Hey All,

I wanted to some advice from you all on what mods I should get. I am going to start slowly modding my ride, piece by piece. All I have is a K&N drop-in-filter and an Apexi Turbo Timer. Should the next couple of mods been a Boost Controller, Exhaust, Intercooler and Fuel Pump? On the boost controller, would you say Electronic of Manual? I seen a lot of people promote the Hallman for MBC and HKS for EBC. At this point just looking for some simple bolt-ons, nothing too extreme "yet!" Thanks guys.

Your Fellow Evoer

Sounds like your on the right track. As far as the boost controller, I like having a electronic boost controller due to the fact of being able to adjust the boost settings on the go.

Post count is overrated. I just wanted to know what is the "path" to go starting out. I know people usually go, exhaust, intake, boost controller, down pipe, fuel pump, intercooler as their first couple of simple mods but wanted to get some advice just to ensure that I am going down the right path.

No need for an intercooler, all you really need is the lower pipe and it will help spool up faster. As far as a MBC, Forge makes a great unit. I used Buschur's TBE for a while till i got the QTP electronic cutout downpipe and then put a HFC on my car to make it a little quieter, and fuel pump is a good idea also.

I have the Greddy Profec B spec II electronic boost controller and it's probably the best out ther for the features and being able to hold boost, that is what you should look for in any boost controller is the ability to hold boost. You didnt state your goals, but you are on a modest path with what you have. If you want to go faster with small amounts of $$ do a Down pipe probably the single best Mod for an Evo, then Lower intercooler pipe, open element air filter, and call it a day. It's been proven over and over that the stock intercooler can support up to 400 hp, and the stock exhaust can flow enough to support the same 400hp. After these few mods attaining lots more power will cost Big $$....

If you want electronic, go AVC-R. If you cant afford it or cant justify the price, get the Hallman mbc. Both are great. AVC-R is quite a bit better, but is it $300 better? Thats what you must decide.

Which do you think is better? MBC or Electronic? I have heard that if you only doing simple bolt ons and not going for high power then stick with MBC but if you plan on increasing the power and modding extensively then go Electronic.
