Question Does evo make noise from factory?

I test drove an evo and in my opinion it seems a little louder then it should be. My 2g awd did not make this noise. It almost sounds like its "winding", I am not sure how to spell that. It also sounds like it has a bad tire or wheel bearing. But all of these sounds are very low sound. They are not loud at all but I can hear them. I am a mechanic and if I would get a car at work like this then I would think there is something wrong but I have never heard another evo, so i figure I should ask. It is an Evo9 2006 with 3k miles on it. People please help because I really like the car and I do want to buy it but those two things are bothering me. So, if you had your evo since new post and let me know. Thanks in advance. I also a new member here so hello everyone, I am coming from DSMtuners where I was a member for like 4 years. Sorry for a long post.

Thanks
Mike

the transmissions make a lot of gear noise. The tires are noisy also. It's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. Wait till summer, when the transmission fluid gets really hot and thin, you think it's bad now......

Unhappy noise

yes i do hear a noise in my 05 8, i don't know if its the wheel or transmission though, specially at around 2500 rpm. I'm not a mechanic and my question is what would be a sure sign if it is a wheel or a transmission problem waiting to get worse? Pls help...

if it is a whine 1st- 3rd, then i guess i would have to say it is normal, since i've had the car from 8k, till now at 31k. i also hear a little rattle from the throwout bearing when releasing the clutch at times also. not sure if it is normal but it has given me no problems at all as far as the trannie or shifting. i also have an 05 8. i dont beat on the car or anything like that so maybe i just haven't driven hard enough to make it fully break. LOL.

Well thanks for a quick response, I am not scared of noises that a normal. My Dsm had a lot of stuff that many people felt it was not normal but as long as other people have it too then I am feeling a little better. Its not a cheap car so I want to be sure that it is ok. If I would drive a altima or something I know how they have to sound if it was like this I would be instanly looking for problems. As far as other post goes then you have explain what is wrong with your car. Do you have constant noise and when exactly. Tire noise will eventually go awey as speed changes but some tires are just noise. Wheel bearing gets louder as speed goes up and in some cases it only makes noise on turns when you put a load on it. Transmission makes wining noise and it feels like straight cut gears and it gets louder as you go faster. Cars makes all sorts of noises, you just have to norrow it down to what and when then go from there. Keep them coming. I also think the car is very loud as in you road noise in general. I am comparing it to a new MDX and it is a day and night difference in road noise. But keep them coming.

the tons of weird noises give the car character. i thought it was weird at first but now i'm used to it. except the annoying rattling somewhere random in the dashboard that i can't figure out. damnit.

Hold on,1st gear is straight cut gear? Are you sure about that, because I dont really think so for some reason. If it is it should sound like reverse and it did not sound like that. Anybody has any input on this?

noises

i don't hear noises above or below 2500 rpm so it's not the wheel nor the transmission? so what is it? and yes, the car is loud but it seems like the motor is louder now than before and I don't hear the boost as loud as before. By the way, i'm bone stock.

You say that your a mechanic but your worried about strange noises coming a from one of the most raw cars to hit the streets? Come on.... And why are you comparing it to an MDX which is not only a luxury car but also a SUV! The Evo makes noise and through time will develope more noises because of the rough suspension. The brakes make noise because they are so massive, the driveline makes noise, and so do the stock tires. It's not a quiet car by any means. The only thing that's quiet from the factory is the exhaust but Evo's whine end of story....

Ok buddy you coming on a little strong there. When am I comparing it to mdx because thats what I drive for now, and why am I worried about noises is because I dont want to fix a car that is worth 30k dollars. Now If you think paying 30k for a car and you have to drop the trans and start fixing everything from the start then you my friend are on crak. I dont want to start anything here so let it go. I see that you have nothing usefull to say.

And by the way the brakes dont make noise because they are massive, but because of the material the pads are made out of.
