? for people who are not running the hood vent louver

just got a quick question. just wanted to know from the guys who are not running the hood louver? (i don't even know if that's what it's really called, but it's the tray that's under the mesh of the hood vent. ) just wanted to know if it's safe not to run it? like when it rains or when i wash my car, is it going to be okay? i just got a carbon fiber hood and the hood didn't have holes for it. thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

I daily drive without it, rain or shine. Unless it's enough rain to completely flood the engine bay, it can't be too harmful. When I was the car I make sure to watch out for letting too much water drip in, but water will set around the opening in the hood until you absorb it.

Mines has been open for about 30k of DD...all is fine. You'll develope slight rust around certain bolts and whatnot, but it doesn't hurt anything. Just make sure water doesn't find its way to your intake.

I got a little rust on my radiator fan shroud and some of the cooling lines to the turbo.

You wont have any problems running without it, but the logical thing to do is just leave it on. The point of it is to guide air out of the hood. The fins help to guide it out while the car is moving, and when you remove this, the air coming out comes in direct contact with the air moving over the hood, which is just pushing it down. The fins facilitate the process, they dont restrict it. The only time it would be better with it off is when the car isnt moving.

When I bought mine used there was nothing there. So I figured it was normal until I read this post. In my head I was thinking, "what happens when it rains" "I wonder if nothing there is norma"l.

Anyone know where I could buy one for cheap? and what is the exact name for it?
