if it were me i would get the flywheel as well. i like the fact that it's only a few pounds lighter and from what i hear it behaves well on the street. this will be my set up when it's time for a clutch in my IX

if you got the $ then you must do it, you will have better engine responce even when not in boost.

also make sure you get the lightest one you can.

Yeah, I'm dreading the day that I need to replace the OEM clutch in my 05 evo. It has 21K miles on it now. I don't launch it, that's why it has lasted this long.

Anyway, back to your question, I would replace both clutch and flywheel. I'm sure if you search enough, there are vendors having holiday deals on a combo. If not, make sure the flywheel is resurfaced and the clutch is done by someone who knows what they are doing.

How many miles are on your IX? If you are going to have to get the stock resurfaced I would just get a new one.

Unless the clutch pedal pulsates or the clutch shudders all you need to do is go over the flywheel with a roloc disk to clean it up a bit. Takes like 30 seconds and you don't have to take it off.

Eeek! I dread clutch problems myself, Rich! I'm at 46k right now on my stock disc in my 2003 and I know it's probably only a matter of time

Its almost clutch time for me too I'm looking at the ACT 2900 and the RRE X-clutch. I'm not sure if I want to do a flywheel though, the stocker is already fairly light and I'm just not sure it will be worth the money for a daily-driven street car.

No do not get a ACT clutch we just had a thread about theses clutchs for evo's and it ended getting cleaned up because some of us went a lil over board.

I had this same clutch for 3000 miles it sucked so bad it wasnt even funny it was adjusted countless times. But it still locked out a high RPM.
