Well everything was going fine on the restoration of my car until I got to the IC/BOC plumbing. Apparently RMR either cut down the factory part or used their own for the bov return line from the IC pipe. So when I put the stock part on it was like 3" short
. So I found 1 place in the US that has that part (San Antonio, TX) and got it shipped overnight so I can get the car running tomorrow.
One odd thing I noticed, but didn't think twice at the time I noticed it. When draining the oil, I noticed the drain plug had a dab of grey rtv
. Didn't think twice about it. So I got the drain plug back in, new filter on, etc. etc. Fill the oil, cross my fingers, yay no leaks at the oil drain line from the turbo to the pan. But I notice oil is seeping at the drain plug, wtf? I didn't have a drain plug gasket so could that be it, or do you think those idiots may have stripped the threads? It screwed back in easy, I know I didn't overtighten it as I torqued it to specs. Well in any event, I have a new drain plug coming as well as a new gasket. I'll drain the oil again and install the new parts and see if that fixes the seeping. If not, just another item to ad to my evergrowing list of issues that will be in my lawsuit against RMR.

p.s. Mike @ Metro Mitsubishi in San Antonio told me they have a CRAP LOAD of factory accessories for the EVO. He said he will sell at dealer cost to get rid of them, if anyone is interested you can call the dealership at (210) 340-8222, ask for Mike in parts. Tell him you were referred by me so he will give you the discount.

Shawn, You sure it was rtv? The inside of the oil pans look as if they were painted with the drain plugs in place....IE the tip of the drain plug is the same color as the inside of the pan. My oil drain plug is grey on the tip as a result...Others have experienced the same......I'd imagine the grey you saw was paint.
If you have no crushable copper gasket in place, the oil will seep, albeit slowly, from the threads of the plug.

unless you torque the bolt down harder than you did initially, you are not further crushing the washer. If you aren't crushing the washer further, you are not assured an airtight seal.
For the cost, the 30 cents is worth the peace of mind to me...

I'm just curious... why are you returning your car back to stock? I read about your ECU and clutch problems etc. but those problems shouldn't require you to revert everything back to stock.
