Maintenance costs.... How much?

How much for a complete brake job vs. just the parts? I had heard Evo pads are expensive due to size, please let me know. Also, would 225/50/17 snow tires fit on the stock rims because it's in desperate need of tires as well. I'm looking to buy an Evo but I have a feeling these items just pushed the price up $1.5k

oem pads are expensive aftermarket pads would probably set you back 200-300

tires are no good the sidewall is too big (235/45/17 is the stock tire size)

do not buy this car if you don't have money to cover other issues aside from the car that is stupid

I understand what the stock size is but will 225/50/17 fit? For instance, I had 6" ITR rims which stock tires are 195-55-15's but there was nothing wrong with a 205-50-15 on there as well.

I am lucky to get 10k miles out of my tires. The insides of the fronts are always bald and cording by then. Check out the price on a set of replacement Advans to get a feel for the pain.

Well if you ever want to replace the stock Advan AO-46 tires you are looking at around $1,100 bucks and they only last about 10-15k miles. I have 35k miles on my car and went through 2 sets of Advans and my Falken RT-615s are getting pretty shot as well. Oil changes are about $60 from what I hear (never paid to have one done). I did my own pads and rotors this summer and it was around $800. If you keep up with your scheduled maintenance every 30k miles or so that is around $300 bucks. It eats gas and if you are tuned you have to run 93 or the highest octane available.

Personally when I bought my car I looked at two things...can I afford the payments and the insurance? I said yes to both so I bought it. I never thought of maintanence and I wish I wouldve because it is at least tripple a regular car.

I did pads (Hawk HPS), rotors (DBA 4000), ss lines (who knows what brand), and fluid (ATE Super Blue) about a year ago. Including shipping it was still less than $800.

The difference was immediate and hugely improved over stock.

I just bought rear pads from tirerack. $84 to the door and a little elbow grease. Dealership wanted $500 for the rears alone. + i like to learn how to do this stuff anyways.

Call Girodisc about the pads. All four corners with stock-like replacements for about $100. Can't beat it if you're on a budget (and staying off the track).

If you aren't beating the **** out of the rotors they should last quite a while with a regular street pad. Track of course will kill em. I went through a set of pads at 15K miles with a few track days and a bunch of autoxes.

Thanks for the responses. I've got to pass on this Evo I'm looking at because I'll have to assume all the extra cost which I can't agree with.
