I've been driving my evo for almost a year now and I still cannot figure out why shifting from 1st to 2nd gear will buck almost every single shift causing the rpms to lag. All the other stick cars i've driven, I have not had this problem but in the evo i cannot help it. Ive been trying out a various rpm range to see where it does the least amount of bucking but it still occurs. Does this happen to anyone else :X Mines a Evo 9 SE. Any suggestions as well?

i dont know if i am understanding what you mean by bucking but from 1st to 2nd the shifter throw is a little long for me and i am kinda slow on shifting so i dont grind... are you shifting at low rpms like 2-3k?

just sounds like need to play around more it definitely shouldn't be happening often
it's all about clutch control my man
P.S. - the shifter bushing you are trying to sell...might be the best mod you can ever do to your car...so unless you already have them or have a five speed (which I'm assuming you do)...keep them

yeah i have the 5spd. I ordered the 6spd bushing for my MR but sold it right after i bought the 6spd ones. I need to get my hands on a 5spd bushing set sometime soon.Originally Posted by chaotichoax

Let off the clutch slower... are you dropping it every time you shift?

Doesn't happen to me. It's more timing than faster or slower. You need to let the clutch out at the rpms the car will be at when you're in second.

don't release the gas until you have fully pressed the clutch. it is all about the art of driving a stick. it is a driver issue, not the car

I have that problem too, I think I let the clutch out too fast and the cars jumps. So we need to slip a bit then?

i beg to differ, i have buschurs bushings on in my 6 speed and it made my car very hard to shift into reverse and would sometimes cause it to grind between gears (i am talking about the ones that go on the cable ends). the ones that go on the shifter base make a huge difference tho. and i would highly recommend themOriginally Posted by chaotichoax

Hasn't been a huge problem of mine, though it does happen on occasion.
