Best place to find a non-ACD transfer case?

I need to put the evo back together and I need a transfer case. Does anyone have an idea of where the best place to look would be? I've checked ebay and a couple of junk yard sites but no luck.

I would go with shep. If your going to get a non ACD case make sure you get one with an LSD.

The car actually from an insurance auction

Buying a new one is kind of steep at $3k.

There are people who sell remanufactured on ebay for $1500 - $1600 but I didn't really wanna pay more than $1000 for one.

Why not take out the transfer case, and take it to a tranny shop and have them rebuild it. There's a tranny shop around the corner from me, I check them out for future reference. He said just a basic rebuild= $700 bucks. If I were to need gears and other parts, the price could go up. Like I said, I'm gonna use him for future reference. I have 62k on my car as well.

Yokomo. Keep in mind the ring gears go for about 1200 from mitsu if yours are fried.

As far as the auctions go. Every now and then you can find an evo for less than 3000. But keep in mind that you are going to get a lot more than just the t-case and with proper selling technics you could probably make your money back.

I personally am going with a brand new stage II shep tcase.

That'd be an awesome idea if I had a transfer case to begin with

The car didn't come with one so even if I could find a beat up whining transfer case and get it rebuilt I'd be happy.

If your transfer case it whining already you would spend not much less fixing it then buying a new one. If its whining because of the ring and pinion, shep is the only person I know that can replace them and as per his website he is putting people on the waiting list meaning you won't have it fixed for a while. I know its alot money but do it right the first time and get a new tcase if your car didn't come with one. It's better than doing it twice.

It's not wining, it's just non-existant.

I'm guessing it locked up and in order to move the car around they just removed it all together.

Listen to RCHUENG. He knows what he is talking about. I did exactly what he said. My tc was whining and I didnt have alot of money to spend so I was just going to have Shep rebuild it. I waited for 2 months hoping that Shep will get the parts in he needs. They still havent came in yet so I went with the Stege II replacement option. Just got it back a few days ago and everything is good!! It is more expensive to replace but at least I dont have to worry about it anymore.
