Rear O2 sensor "not ready" state
Hey guys,
Need some help. Here in Texas the yearly state inspection is done via OBD-II, and the county that I live in doesn't do a sniffer test.
The modifications that I have to my car are as follows....Buschur TBE with test pipe with the "Mechanical CEL fix", Buschur intake, HKS electric boost controller and about a month and 1/2 ago I was tuned by Jestr.
I went in for the inspection but failed, my O2 sensor is reading "not ready". I've driven the car plenty of times to give it a drive cycle. I do only drive it on the weekends, so do i need to drive it more? I assumed since I am not throwing any CELs and my MIL is good, I would pass.
Does having a mechanical cel fix always give you a "not ready" on the rear O2? It can't be the tune, can it?. Do i have to give it more drive cycles??? I've read that plenty of people have passed with no cat and mechanical fix.
Help!!!!

I have a evoVIII with all the bolt-ons incuding a full 3" turboback with o2 housing and high flow race cat with 2 anti-foulers in the catback and just passed ny state inspection wich is also done through the obd-II port with no sniffer. Maybe your 02sensor is shot. Do you run alot of leaded race-gas?

no, i run straight pump.
does any one know the drive cycle for the evo, or how many miles does the car to be driven to activate the O2 sensors from "not ready" to "ready"

JestR may have disabled the CEL test. Since it is undoubtedly encrypted it wont be as easy to check as it would normally be. I dont know that its a practice he is normally in though so take that for what it is. If I were you I would contact him and see.

KcEvil8, I rarely drive the car....only on the weekends..i'm trying to find what the drive cycle of the evo is so that I can perform it.
JohnBradley, I will contact Jestr and ask him about the tune.
My main concern is if a mechanical fix on the O2 sensor on the exhaust will always return a "not ready".... if not I will just go drive the crap out of my car at nights and put another 200-300 miles to see if it goes back to "ready" so that I can pass inspection.

Is you car throwing any codes? You should just buy an OBD2 scanner that can check readiness indicators and find out exactly when they will be ready. It usually about 100 miles.
Then your best bet now it to buy a cheap ($50) OBD2 scanner that can check readiness indicators. Its always good to have one in your possesion, especially with a state that does OBD2 inspections like yours and mine.
you need to drive the car more and should take it to the highway. you need to meet the certain condition(time, speed, miles, tempand etc...) for it to be ready. i'll see if i can find out on all-data at work the exact condition that it need to be ready.
I dont think anybody can tell you the exact drive cycle for any vehicle. Most people will say 7-8 turn key operations. Turn it on, drive it for a moderate period of time, then off again.
