Hard decision but went with Cobra XR9G

I've been doing a lot of research about radar detectors lately since I started the thread back then about the Valentine One. Thanks you all for your inputs. I found that the V1 gives a lot of false alert and all besides, it cost a lot more than the Cobra XR9G which is on sale for $320 from https://www.bestradardetectors.net. The V1 is going for $499 from 007RadarDetectors and the Bel STI Driver goes for $449.

I would have to say that they all are good detectors but I like the features on the Cobra. It shows you your speed, it can also show you redlight camera threat too and it has a wireless remote so it doesn't look like a radar detector Planning on installing it tonight and see how it works. Will post pic once the project is done.

That is a very good choice of radar detector. Personally I don't use them but my friend has the same detector and he brags about how good it is all the time.

I love the design, but neither Radar Roy, http://www.radarbusters.com/ or http://www.guysoflidar.com/ seem to think that the performance is as good as many others. I am looking forward to the remote mount Escort 9500 mentioned in Radar Roys blog at http://www.radarroy.com/

The only problem with buying detectors on eBay is that your manufacturer's warranty is usually VOID for companies like Bel or Escort. You have to show proof that you bought it from an authorized dealer (99% of eBay sellers are not) if you need warranty work. V1 you can only buy new from V1 so that doesn't apply to them.

V1 is the way too go. There are different modes as well. Under the normal mode you'll get the "false" alarms.

People seem to think that these are "police" detectors instead of simply being a radar receiver. Those false alarms are simply the device doing it's job and alerting you to a radar presence.

But to alleviate anyone else's concerns about the false alarm bit--the V1 has a logic mode wherein it doesn't alert you to false alarms--only the real ones. It will detect, and calculate whether or not the radar presence is worth displaying to you.

All the non-freeway traffic cops use lasers here... So I can't justify the 350 dollars, the freeway cops suck at hiding, so its usually just the laser cops around town that get me, if ever.
